Foncilea ‘Fonzie’ Ernestine Chavers

Foncilea “Fonzie” Ernestine Chavers, 85, of Nokomis, AL., passed away on June 6, 2026. She was born on January 19, 1941, in Andalusia, AL., to Lonnie Chavers and Bernice Bryars Chavers.

She worked as a cosmetician with Harco Drugs and had also worked at The Ribbon Mill in Brewton, AL.

Foncilea was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Daniel Wayne Gibson; siblings, Jack Chavers, Junior Chavers, Myrtle English, Merelle Smith, Lois Castleberry, and a great-grandchild, Jessica Haveard.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Emmons of Nokomis, AL, her brothers, Curtis (Geneva Chavers); Leon (Lois) Chavers, and Ray Chavers, all of Davisville, FL; her grandchildren, Jaime Emmons, Kelly Asiong, Keith Emmons, Kevin Emmons, Chad Emmons, Haley Emmons and Brandy Emmons. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL, with Bro. Wendell Hadley and Bro. John Chavers officiating. Interment will follow at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, AL.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Emmons, Keith Emmons, Joey Helms, Nic McKenna, Cody Haveard, Gilbert Asiong, Antonio Asiong, and Tony Stewart.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
