Legal Services of Northwest Florida
Legal Services of Northwest Florida will be available at the Century library on Tuesday, January 14, beginning at 10a.m.. for anyone who needs to learn more about free legal services in the area. The library is located at 7991 N. Century Blvd, in Century.
Winnie the Pooh Tea Time at the Bellview Library
Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day on Wednesday, January 15, from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bellview library. Take a special cozy lesson on tea and enjoy activities about our favorite friends from the Hundred Acre Wood. Families welcome. The library is located at 6425 Mobile Highway in Pensacola.
Design a Chia Seed Character
Stop by the Century library during normal business hours Thursday, January 16, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and design your own chia seed plant then watch it grow! The library is located at 7991 N. Century Blvd, in Century.
Children’s Home Society Supply Drive
West Florida Public Libraries is collecting school supplies, household products, and hygiene supplies for the Children’s Home Society Navigator Program. Wish list items include feminine hygiene products, laundry detergent, bar soap, body wash, lotion, deodorant (all types), towels, washcloths, backpacks (neutral colors),socks, underwear, and clothes hangers. All items must be new, unused and/ or in the original packaging, if applicable. The CHS Navigator Program supports at risk students and their families by connecting them to resources such as government assistance programs, food, clothing and other basic needs. Donations can be dropped off at any West Florida Public Library during normal hours January 2 through January 31.
Sensory Saturdays at West Florida Public Libraries
West Florida Public Libraries now offer sensory-friendly browsing hours from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sensory hours will be on the first Saturday of the month at the Molino branch library and the second Saturday of the month at the Tryon branch library. The Bellview branch library will be added on the third Saturday of the month beginning in February. These hours provide a safe and friendly environment designed for individuals who are neurodivergent, have special needs and their families. A calming sensory room filled with comfortable seating, sensory activities, books, toys, engaging fidgets and fun brain games will be open from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sensory Saturdays. Relax and play for the whole time or come and go as you please. The library will not be open to the general public until regular operating hours.
GED Classes
GED classes are held Wednesday and Thursday evenings during the month of January at 6 p.m. each night at the Molino library. The library is located at 6450-A Highway 95A in Molino.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration will be held Monday, January 20 in Century. The main program begins at 10 a.m. at the Century Community Center on Highway 4 featuring music and food. Parade will follow the program with line up at 12:30 p.m. and the motorcade at 1 p.m. from the community center to the old Carver Middle School.
