Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale
Friends of West Florida Public Library, a non-profit support organization of the West Florida Public Library, will hold its Big Spring Book Sale from April 29 to May 1 at the downtown Main Library, 239 N. Spring Street. Thousands of hardcover, paperback, and collectible books will be available for purchase, plus a variety of DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and other items. Friday, April 29, is Preview Day of the Book Sale. From 3pm to 7pm, Friends of WFPL members get exclusive early access to the Book Sale. Non-members can pay $5 admission to take part in Preview Day. Memberships can be purchased at the door. On Saturday, April 30, the Book Sale will be open from 9am to 5pm, with free admission for all shoppers and reduced prices. Sunday, May 1 is the final day of the Book Sale, with free admission and the popular $5 Bag Sale from noon to 3pm. For just $5, you can get as much as will fit in a brown paper grocery bag. (Please don’t bring oversized bags from home.) Payment by cash or check is preferred. Credit cards are accepted for sales of $20 or more. Jay Pro Rodeo
The 14th Annual Jay Pro Rodeo will be held at 8:00 P.M., on April 29th and 30th at the Ted May Arena in Jay. The 3R Rodeo Company from Jemison, Alabama will entertain the crowd with rodeo action including pro bull riding, saddle broncs, calf and team roping, steer wrestling, and women’s breakaway and barrel racing. For the little ones, there’s the calf scramble and more! Be sure and bring your appetite because there will be plenty of food at the concession stand and local vendors. Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for children twelve and under. All proceeds benefit area youth programs such as the Jay High Student Government Association. Ernest Ward Middle School Cheerleader Try-outs
Ernest Ward Middle school will hold cheerleader try-outs on Friday, May 6, at 4 p.m. at the Ernest Ward gym. Clinic dates will be Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m until 10 a.m.; Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, May 4 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Thursday, May 5 from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. Students interested in trying out for cheer should pick up a cheer packet at Ernest Ward in the front office. Packet will not be sent to elementary schools. All candidates must meet all requirements outlined in the packet. A complete physical is required before students can participate.

St. Mary’s Spring Arts & Crafts Show Vendors Needed
Vendors, artists and crafters are needed to participate in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Arts and Crafts Fair on Friday, May 6, noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. This event will be held at the historic church located at 6849 Oak Street, Milton. Showcase your custom jewelry, art, woodcrafts, candles and other creative handiwork. Inside booth space is available for $40 for both days and includes one six-foot table. Outside booths are $20 for one day and $35 for both. Set up is Friday, May 6 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Space is limited. Use of electricity is available for $5. New Bethel Baptist Church Women’s Conference
New Bethel Baptist Church will host a Women’s Conference on May 13, from 5 p.m until 7:30 p.m. and May 14, from 12 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Dinner will be served Friday evening and lunch and dinner are included on Saturday. The 3rd Annual GUMC Youth Branden Penegar Memorial Car Show will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Gonzalez United Methodist Church located at 2026 Pauline St.in Cantonment. North Escambia Bee Association Meetings
The North Escambia Bee Association holds their monthly meetings at the Molino Community Complex on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are for both experienced and inexperienced beekeepers who want to stay current on modern beekeeping practices.
