Unfortunately I have worked at the DOC for 20 years now. Dont make the same mistake I did. The pay is trash and your treated like trash by administration and inmates. It’s a lose lose situation for the average person looking to make a buck. $1,000 bonus for the worse job imaginable. They are also severely understaffed which is an officer safety issue which has been happening for YEARS. They do not care nor does the DOC care about its employees. You will have faces and urine thrown on you by inmates and possibly attacked or killed. Not worth the stress or the penny pay. I should have started at McDonald’s and worked my way to manager. At least it’s a safe job. At 2 years, I feel very dumb I didn’t do something else. Now I’m stuck.

    @ bob

Nurses require a 6 year degree for that $10,000 bonus. DOC only requires high school.

How long you been locked up judy.

Lots of folks can’t pay rent and bills because of no jobs due to covid. Why is there no line to sign up ?

@ Bob, but…that highly trained dedicated nurse did not get his or her job by getting a GED .
They didn’t ho to a low-tech for 60 hours to get a degree.
So this tells me for your lack of education…you need to apply at the DOC
    Good luck BTW..

Wonder if FDC has ever considered treating their employees well as a way of keeping them? Too many of the guards are just bullies and, it seems to me that they worse they treat the inmates, the quicker they advance! It is an upside down system, favoring those who are sergeant and above over the slick-sleeves! The inmates run the place!
