Billings Donated To Gonzalez Jr; Attorney Won’t Confirm $100,000 In Second Safe

July 22, 2009

The Billings family attorney held a press conference Wednesday afternoon, fielding questions about safe supposedly containing $100,000 in the Billings home at the time of their murders.

Billings family attorney Crystal Spencer would not confirm or deny that there was a second safe in the Beulah home.  CNN has reported their sources as saying there was about $100,000 in the safe.

“There was nothing illegal in that home in any location that has been found by any investigative agency,” Spencer said.

“The Billings family wants to put these things to rest so that they can begin to grieve,” she said.

She would not comment about the guilt or innocence of any of the suspects that have been arrested in the murders.

She said daughter Ashley Markham has worked in the family auto businesses for about 12 years and there was no business conducted or loan to Leonard Gonzalez Jr.

Spencer said Byrd Billings contributed a “nominal” amount that she believed to be less than $1,000 to Gonzalez Jr.’s Project Fight Back karate program or some other martial arts project. She said it was not out of character for Billings to donate money to many groups.

“We have not been informed of an imminent or additional arrest,” she said.

I have said it before and I re-state it here: Gonzalez is nothing more than a wanna be commando…..out to impress his bunch of thugs. He thought the Billings had $$ (and perhaps they did in the safe he didn’t haul off) he went there to kill and steal from them. No pro hit, no ulterior motive…….period
Gonzalez is a stupid, flagrant jerk who wanted to be a big man for the day. How he got all these others to go along with him remains a mystery. What were they thinking? Pam Wiggins needs to be charged with more and I am sure she will be eventually when the cops get the cotton out of their brains.

They probably let Wiggins out in hopes that she’ll lead them to the rest of the posse.

The PNJ reported that one of Melanie’s bio children died, an older adopted son of Byrd’s is believed to have committed suicide, and one of the other adopted children had died. Ashley must have been born when Melanie was very young. It’s natural that she would take over the business AND the children, as the business was technically owned by her and Melanie. Byrd had them named as owners, for some reason. Seems like it would have been a lot less expensive to just get a big safe deposit box at the bank, but that has its down side. Well, anyway, we’ll just see.

    There is
WAY more here. To have the time down to a fine art, in and out..To make sure they were killed. if they were masked no need to kill. This is a daring bunch and what kind of a person gets a doantion for a community project and kills the donor??Think of all the kids left fatherless and motherless in this situation. All the alledged have several children..sickening, but I hope the agencies dig and dig.. Crooks like to hide out in small places, and crooks are becoming extremely daring in this economic backslide..

Their is going to be alot more to this story.Very, very sad that all this took place. My heart goes out to the victims and thier family. Also to the young people that were connected in this mess.It still puzzles me why would it take 8-10 people to raid a home and kill 2 loving people.Even if thier was 100,000 involved,if you divide that into the people that are mixed up in this triangle, that would be around 10 to 12,000 dollars a piece.I just dont believe that many people would risk thier life and the life of others for such a small amount of money. Most of whom had good jobs and lived comfortable.Just alot to think about .Something is missing in this puzzle.Dont get me wrong,im not trying to judge the Billings family, and again my heart goes out to them ,especially those kids. But something, something, just aint Right.I am still weiry as to how Pamela is out and so much is against her.The 16 year old just got caught up in a bad situation. The adults should have been trying to show him the right things in life to do instead of getting him caught up in murder.Sad, Sad, Sad.
