Man Accidently Shoots Himself Saturday

An adult male was seriously injured when he accidently shot himself in the lower leg Saturday morning.

Escambia County EMS was dispatched to the Escambia River Gun Club on Rocky Branch Road about 11:15 a.m. Saturday. It was not immediately clear if the injury occurred at the gun club or at a nearby location.

The man, reportedly in his 60’s, was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

    Accidents do happen, Sounds to me like Keeping your finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot would have stopped this one from happening.

    Accidents are extremely rare. Neglegence is pretty common….and yes, anyone can be neglegent.

    Give the guy a break you dont know the whole story atleast noone else got injured hell he could of tripped and gun went off i bet half of you have been in a car wreck or fallen off a ladder sometimes crap happens

    The range, the holster or the time of day were not the cause. The shooter’s lack of training was the cause.

    This is/or was the only shooting range in the county that will let you draw from a holster, I wonder if that is the cause? Being that it was a leg injury?
