Something to chew on for the Citizens of this county. Thefts statistically are for the most part drug related. Drugs are mainly sold by street gangs. The street gangs also do most of our shootings. Sheriff Morgan said quote “Gangs are at an acceptable level in Escambia County.” I say there is no acceptable level for criminal activity. Time to get somebody to run the show that does not have his head in the sand.

“if you had LEO on every corner you would still have crime. ”

But I bet most of wouldn’t take place on the corners.

Most criminals have this strange tendency to not commit crimes in front of known law enforcement officers. This is true for speeding, drug deals, tax fraud, child molesting, bank robberies. You name it.

    David considering amazing fact

dick morris, former dem. stratigist for pres. clinton, had an excellent commentary on the sneaky UN gun treaty….thank God for the power of the NRA…doubt it will pass.

I love the comments “the police arent there when you need them” … Well we should talk to the criminals about not calling ahead and scheduling their robberies or drug deals then shouldnt we. Use a little common sense. The only people to blame are the criminals.

@ Someguy. That U N gun ban must be ratified by a 2/3rds majority in the Senate. Hillary and Bonzo can’t do it by themselves, although they would if they could.

You can tell it’s political season when people post about the candidates.

As far as the LEO’s working “side-jobs”…

Can you imagine the problems what would exist if businesses didn’t pay them to be there? It’s a benefit for the community, the department, and the officers.

    Defense Attorney- aka Public Pretender
If I remember right the shooting of Deputy Robinson was While TAC was out doing their job while you were hard asleep in your bed. I’m sure that thug took an “aggressive stance” right as he pulled the trigger that could have cost Deputy Robinson his life. Keep up the good work ECSO.

    On deputies working side jobs.
A school bus driver can’t use the county’s school bus for a side job for a church. Why are deputies allowed to use my car and badge to work as bouncers in bars? When they do so they are not working for the public. I have no problem with a man working two jobs but object to pretending to serve the public while acting as a hired gun for a private citizen.

Let me borrow a line from our president…”let me be clear about this” if you had LEO on every corner you would still have crime. The sheriff’s department only has just so many officers to cover a huge area. Look at the size of the area on a map. Then look at how many LEOs we have. The sheriff has made every effort to involve the community with Crimestoppers and Neighborhood watch groups. How many of you bothered to even attend one of these meetings? You might be surprised by what you learn.

    “just a defense attorney”

What a joke! A lawyer getting high and mighty. Please! If you are real, how many crooks did you put back on the street? Real justice would be when one of those bad boys come for you.

  13. Rick James on July 28th, 2012 10:17 pm

    To defense attorney:
I don’t know what shift TAC works but I’m sure they put their 40 hours in just like everyone else. If they choose to work jobs on the side, good for them. To blame the Sheriff’s Office or the TAC team for a homicide that occurred while they were not working is rediculous. I’m just wondering. Are you a public defender or private attorney?

  14. ReallY.... on July 28th, 2012 9:57 pm

This is awful the only one to blame is the one who pulled the trigger. A life has been took by a killer. A coward to have to use a gun. To blame someones parents No I think not no ones child is perfect and no one deserves to be killed like this. The only person to blame is the killer. If people really think that because drugs was the deal then its part of the “job” are living under a rock and I hope that a person does not get despretand kill some one at a store or somthing cause they want a few bucks. A killer like this will kill for what they want it does not matter who are where. They are a killer/taker and you better hope you dont have anything they want.

I can’t stand it when people blame the cops for everything! Did someone force those two kids in the that truck and drive to that “hood”! And please don’t tell me that people believe these kids where there just twiddling their thumbs! They where up to no good and a worthless punk saw an opportunity to get over on a couple of dumb kids!! Now As far as the cops go they cannot protect you and your family, you have to be the first line of defense for your family! So don’t blame the cops for making extra money on the side, they have family’s to support to.

  17. really!? on July 28th, 2012 8:33 pm

Ok here is the sign of the times…. people blaming police officers for crimes… really?? The kid and the guy demmanding money obviously were into drugs so lets not blame police mismanaged or not for some thing that was not their fault…. maybe if that kid had been raised right his butt wouldnt be out hustlin drugs and drug dealers…. parents are the issue these days not police officers….

The TAC unit is not being used as it should be and the leadership does leave a lot to be desired. Off duty jobs are definitely the number one priority with them, just check the beach out every weekend. This shooting happened before midnight on a Friday night and the unit was not working. When all the vehicle burglaries started happening in the neighborhoods they weren’t there either. Why isn’t the Narcotics Unit doing the drug arrest operations in the neighborhoods anymore? I believe most of this GUN crime is linked to drugs.

The police can not be every place. I still do not understand why people think Beulah is so low crime is it because its not on the news? well I am glad they came through to let some of these people out here know they might come at anytime. I know this wont get put up cause it never does but we do have a drug problem out here the same area that the sweep was done has methhouses crackhouses and pillhouses it has just been hard to get them cause everyone knows everyone out here. One of the worst parts out here has cleaned its selfup but really Beulah is no diffrent than most places its just everyone knows each other for years they are home grown gonna stand by each other and look out for each other. Also the police aint out here stoping random cars for whatever reasons they do in town…sheriff dont get no funny ideas that wont fly over out here trust that but thanks for coming and looking at us you are one of the few to helpout cause code inforcement by theirself just wasnt doing anything about the trash who want get their junk together. that should have been a crime itsself

“Shots fired Sheriff Solid Waste” Where are you???? Shaking potential jurors hands, picking up trash in low crime Beulah!!!!! Sheriff you are a joke!

  23. Just a defense attorney that owns tacs cases in court on July 28th, 2012 5:02 pm

Since your Rick James, I’ll be clearer, I’m a local defense attorney that blows TAC’s weak arrests out of the water, all the time! I see that your unit isn’t doing the job and we need someone who will. Enjoy your side job at the beach this weekend while more peoples lives are taken. Lets see if I can be clearer, when all your uses of force read “the suspect took an aggressive stance” maybe it’s time for a change!

This is happening all too often around here. Rip to person who was shot. Wish it was the “robber” who was dead instead.

Great. Someone who wanted to be on TAC and did not get picked.

  26. What else do we expect? on July 28th, 2012 3:30 pm

Six prostitutes arrested in a sting, wow! That’s easy police work! Yet, where is the TAC unit that has about 14 Deputies, 2 Sgt’s, 2 k-9 handlers and a LT? This lid getting killed is a sign of the time! We have too many chiefs and obviously not enough indians. The TAC unit is not there when needed, they are not needed on side jobs at the beach, making extra duty money! They work hours that are apparently not helping. Where is bike patrol? Oh wait, there is no money. Yet, the sheriff will pay overtime to deputies to come in and help investigations close cases on thefts! Something has to change people!!! This is ridiculous!!! I know deputies cant be everywhere at one time, but we need more officers on the street! Let’s do like PPD and put some officers on the street, or just continue to let the thugs have our streets at night!
