Corrections Officer Convicted On Drugs For Sex Charges

October 14, 2010

A former corrections officer at the Escambia County Road Prison in Cantonment has been found guilty of providing Xanax to an inmate in exchange for oral sex.

vieitezlawrencethomas.jpgLawrence Thomas Vieitez was convicted by an Escambia County jury on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, introducing contraband into a county detention facility and solicitation to commit prostitution.

Vietez faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

After an Escambia Road Prison inmate complained about the correction officer’s advances, road prison officials filed a report with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The inmate was fitted with a  listening device while working under the supervision of Vieitez .

The sheriff’s office reported that a deputy was able to listen in as Vieitez offered to exchange the Xanax for oral sex. Vieitez reportedly went home to retrieve the Xanax. When he returned and that inmate stated that he received the Xanax, Vieitez was arrested.

The Escambia County Road Prison is operated by Escambia County; it is the only county-operated road camp in Florida.

This sicko wont have to trade pills for pleasure where he’s going. Unfortunetly he once worked for the law and will probably only get a slap on the wrist. I’m sure he’s not the only officer that demands sexual favors for the exchange of drugs. This keeps the people that jail tries to rehabilitate down. This is so wrong. Most inmates are drug addicts, and need the time in jail to get off drugs. I thought C.O.’s were supposed to keep everyone in jail safe, not in endanger the safety of everyone else for some oral sex.

Life just took a VERY BAD TURN for this fellow. I hope he does not get put with the general prisoners—-on second thought with what he did maybe that’s where he needs to be. The hard working CO’s will catch flack for a while because he was so dumb.

People are so sick. People like this, make the real correctional officers look bad and continue to have such a bad reputation. Civilians on the outside of the fence don’t understand the kaos in the prisons, just like “GOOD” correctional officers don’t understand the minds of those who choose to do wrong. A mystery to all.
Its so sad how the world is today- * WHY850* wishing for a change for the good in people and the world!
