Cantonment Man Charged With Aggravated Assault, Strangulation After Dispute
October 5, 2026
A 19-year-old Cantonment resident was arrested following a domestic disturbance involving a knife and a foot pursuit with deputies.
Deangelo Jerrell Bolden was charged with felony battery by strangulation, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, grand theft, criminal mischief, and resisting an officer without violence.
According to an arrest report from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a Cantonment residence on September 20, 2026, in response to a disturbance.
The incident reportedly began over a household chore dispute that escalated when an argument broke out inside the home. Bolden allegedly initiated a physical struggle, placed an occupant in a chokehold that restricted breathing, and later retrieved a kitchen knife to swing at the person. The victim used a dining room chair as a shield to deflect the blows, bending the blade.
Deputies noted that Bolden broke multiple household items—including kitchenware, a Nativity set and decor totaling nearly $300 in damage—and fled with a family member’s smartphone before law enforcement arrived.
While deputies were investigating in the backyard, they spotted Bolden near the tree line before he took off running along nearby railroad tracks. After ignoring verbal commands to stop, he was taken into custody without further incident.
Bolden was booked into the Escambia County Jail and later released on a $20,500 bond.
