Suspect Charged With Burglary Of Cantonment Mercantile

A suspect has been charged with the burglary of Cantonment Mercantile on Highway 29 just north of Muscogee Road
The burglary was discovered Tuesday morning and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office quickly developed 20-year old Ronnie Lee Graham of Cantonment as the suspect. He was charged with grand theft, burglary causing damage over $1,000 and resisting arrest without violence.
Graham was booked into the Escambia County Jail Tuesday evening with bond set at $5,600.
The business has about 50 independent vendor booths along with a bakery and more.

Molino Christmas Parade Returning For 2023

After an absence of several years, the Molino Christmas Parade will return for 2023.
The parade will travel West Crabtree Church Road to the Molino Ballpark on December 9 at 11 a.m.

Molino Lady Bugs Win 8U Monster Bash Tourney

Coach Jonathan Weaver’s Molino Lady Bugs won the two-day 8U Monster Bash Tournament in Robertsdale, AL last weekend. The tournament consisted of 19 teams in the 8U Division alone.

Cantonment Mercantile Burglary Under Investigation

An overnight burglary at a Cantonment business is under investigation.
Someone broke into Cantonment Mercantile on Highway 29 just north of Muscogee Road
The business has about 50 independent vendor booths along with a bakery and more.

McElhaney Road in Bratt Now Closed For $810K FEMA Drainage Project

McElhaney Road just south of the state line in Bratt is now closed for a Hurricane Sally FEMA project to improve drainage structures.
Drivers can detour along North Highway 99 and Old Bratt Road.
The $810,715.45 project will replace the drainage structures at 7200 and 8000 McElhaney Road. FEMA will fund $770,179.68 (95%) of the cost, while Escambia County will be responsible for $40,535.77 (5%).
The work includes clearing of all hurricane debris, removing damaged existing culvert pipes and riprap, installing a new pipe/box culvert, restabilizing and reconstructing the roadway pavement, and replacing riprap within the ditch bottom. Minor ditch regrading, resetting existing fence, and installing concrete ditch pavement will be required.
IT is scheduled to take about 180 days to complete after the October 24 closure.

Open House Thursday Morning At Molino Forestry Station

The Florida Forest Service’s Molino Forestry Station will host an open house Thursday, October 26 as part of Florida Forests Week.
Florida Forests Week was created in 2015 in partnership with the Florida Forestry Association and is celebrated annually, this year from October 22-28.
The event in Molino will be from 8:30-11:30 am Thursday and will focus on sharing tips and tricks on improving forested land, the benefits of prescribed fire as well as an overview of the services offered by the Florida Forest Service to help landowners better manage their property.
The Florida Forest Service’s Molino Forestry Station is located on Highway 29, under the fire tower just south of Highway 196.

BRACE Names Nick Jackson As New CEO

Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) is has announced that Dr. Nick Jackson has been named their new Chief Executive Officer.
With over 24 years of public service to both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and holding numerous leadership roles, he brings a passion for serving others along with his knowledge and drive to guide BRACE in its disaster readiness, response, and recovery programs in Escambia County and throughout the state of Florida.
BRACE has been a valuable partner in assisting our citizens with preparedness, long-term recovery and a host of other services since its inception,” said Escambia County Emergency Manager Travis Tompkins. “Emergency Management is looking forward to the continued collaboration, and we look forward to working with Dr. Jackson as he enters his new role serving Escambia County.”

Northview Girls Golf Takes Second At Districts, Headed To Regionals

The Northview High School Girls Golf Team placed second at districts Monday. Anna Kunkel placed second place overall.
The team will travel to regionals in Jacksonville on Friday, and they are in need of sponsors to help cover costs. For more information, contact coach Amy Holland at the school
