Escambia Republicans Overwhelmingly Pick Trump During Primary

Donald Trump was the winner of the Florida Republican Presidential Primary on Tuesday with about 81% of the vote.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, received 82.5% of the vote in Escambia County.

In Escambia County, Nikki Haley received 11.89%, and DeSantis garnered 4.07%. Both dropped out of the race but remained on the ballot. Under Florida law, a vote cast for any candidate nominee appearing on the ballot still counts as a vote for that candidate.

The 2024 Presidential Preference Primary was for Republican voters only. There was no Democratic race as the party has already picked Joe Biden as their nominee.

Northview Chiefs Beat Flomaton 13-3 (With Gallery)

The Northview Lady Chiefs defeated the Flomaton Hurricanes 13-3 Tuesday evening in Bratt.

The Chief’s Mikayla McAnally earned the win. She allowed two hits and three runs in three innings, striking out one and walking one. Starter Jamison Gilman gave up one hit and no runs in two innings, striking out five and walking none.

Kylee Langham led the Chiefs at the plate, driving in seven runs on two hits. She doubled in the second inning, scoring three, walked in the third to score one, and singled in the fifth scoring one.

Gilman was 1-4 with an RBI; Chloe Ragsdale was 1-4; Makayla Golson went 1-2 with one RBI; Daviona Randolph was 1-1; and Mayson Edwards was 1-1 with two RBIs.

Bentley Edwards took the loss for Flomaton. She went four innings in the circle, giving up 12 runs on four hits, striking out none and walking 11.

Kailee Herndon went 1-3 with two RBIs for the Canes. Zoe White was 1-3 and Cookie Miller went 1-1 for Flomaton.

Thursday, Flomaton will host Clarke County at 6 p.m., and Northview will travel to Gulf Breeze for a 6:30 meeting with the Dolphins.

IMPACT 100 Will Award Over $1.2 Million To Local Nonprofits

IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area will award over $1.2 million to local nonprofit organizations.

PACT 100 announced Tuesday that its 2024 membership drive has successfully concluded with a record 1,208 members.

On October 13, IMPACT 100 will give $1,208,000 back to the community, awarding 12 significant project grants of $100,670 each to nonprofit organizations serving Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
IMPACT 100 has awarded grants totaling over $16 million in 153 grants to deserving nonprofit organizations in the Greater Pensacola Bay Area over the last 20 years.

“It is my privilege to serve with the 1,208 members of IMPACT to support the nonprofits who do such important work in our community. The spirit of philanthropy is alive and well among us as demonstrated by the record-breaking number of women who have chosen to be a part of IMPACT 100 in 2024. Through our collective giving, we have already contributed over $16 Million to the Pensacola Bay Area. This year we will add another $1.2 million to that grand total, continuing our mission of effective philanthropy.” said Kristin Longley, president of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area. “For over 20 years, the women of IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area have supported nonprofit organizations through truly transformative projects that benefit thousands of families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.”

On Thursday, April 18th, IMPACT 100 will host a free nonprofit workshop and social for nonprofits considering applying for a grant. The event will feature the dynamic Darrick McGhee. McGhee’s diverse background as an entrepreneur, lobbyist, pastor, and blogger brings a wealth of knowledge on driving positive change, particularly in Florida. Aggie Classic Day Two: Tate Beats Perry, OK, 10-1

On the second night of the Aggie Classic, Tate defeated the Maroons of Perry, Oklahoma.

Tate’s Kaleb Posta earned the win, surrendering four hits and one run in five innings while striking out five and walking one.  H St. Amant pitched two for the Aggies, striking out two and walking one while giving up no hits or runs.

Madox Land went 1-for-4 at the plate for the Aggies with two RBIs. Bray Touchstone was 3-for-4. Ketch King and Cole McNair had two hits each for Tate.

Up next, the Aggies will take on the Lions of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Northview Chiefs Varsity And JV Defeat Pensacola Christian (With Gallery)

The Northview Chiefs defeated Pensacola Christian Academy 12-2 in a run-ruled five-inning game Tuesday night in Bratt.

Northview’s Kelan Jurey earned the win, giving up two hits and one run in four innings, striking out four and walking three. Jayden White went for one inning in relief, giving up no hits, one run, striking out one and walking one.

Wyatt Scruggs was 3-3 at bat for the Chiefs with three RBIs.  White was 2-3 with one RBI; Brady Smith was 2-2 with two RBIs, Grayden Sheffield was 1-1 with three RBIs; and Jase Portwood went 1-3 with one RBI.

Northview will host T.R. Miller at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Suspect, Age 14, To Be Tried As Adult In Murder Of 15-Year Old In Pensacola

A 14-year-old charged with murder will be tried as an adult in the shooting death of a 15-year-old in Pensacola on March 14.

Remington Andrew Crumbs, 14, was arrested shortly after the shooting.

Rumariya Union, 19, is in the Escambia County Jail , charged with felony accessory after the fact to murder with bond set at $10,000.

Pensacola Police responded to a report of a shooting just after 8 p.m. March 14 in the 2800 block of North 9th Avenue, where they found the 15-year old male victim. The victim was taken to a local hospital and died from his injuries.

Detectives are still working to determine a motive. During the incident, one shot was fired, leaving the victim with a fatal injury.

Witnesses to the incident provided information that led officers to one of the apartments in the complex where both suspects were located. They were taken to the Pensacola Police Department, and based on statements and evidence, they were both charged.

Cantonment Rotary Presents Lifetime Service Award To Jack O’Donnell

The Rotary Club of Cantonment hast presented a Lifetime Service Award to Jack O’Donnell.

The award recognizes O’Donnell for over 42 years of dedicated service, not only to Cantonment Rotary but also to Rotary International.

He served in many capacities in Rotary and has continued to be actively involved in Rotary.

Until recently, he provided ‘bull” each week to the members, bringing up many facts on many subjects,” Bill Farinas of Cantonment Rotary said, congratulating O’Donnell on a well-deserved recognition.

O’Connell’s wife Cinny is an honorary member of Cantonment Rotary and attends the weekly meetings with him.

About 35 members and guests attended a dinner in O’Donnell’s honor, including Cantonment Rotary President Dustin Vaughn, District Governor Kerry Anne Schultz, and emcee Paul Frederick.

Tate Graduate Recognized As ‘Warfighter of the Day’ Aboard USS George Washington

Airman Evan Straight, a Tate High School graduate, was recognized as Warfighter of the Day aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS George Washington.

Warfighter of the Day is a command program where the ship’s captain personally recognizes an exemplary sailor for their accomplishments. Straight was selected by leadership for this honor. His motivation is always inspiring to his peers and represents the “Spirit of Freedom,” the ship’s nickname.

Straight, a 2022 graduate of Tate High School, joined the Navy over a year ago.

“I am proud of the hard work I’ve done to be able to get qualified in my job,” said Straight. “One day, I’d like to be a great role model for my kids.”

Aircraft carriers, such as USS George Washington, project power and presence worldwide by serving as the cornerstone of a Carrier Strike Group and launching and landing various types of aircraft.

George Washington is undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a multi-year project performed during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades and modernization.

USS George Washington is named after the first president of the United States.

The ship’s motto is “First in War, First in Peace.”

With Two Avery Stuckey Homers, Northview Blanks Escambia 15-0

With two home runs from Avery Stuckey, the Northview Chiefs blanked the Escambia Gators 15-0 Monday night in Pensacola.

Stuckey had a solo home run in the seond inning and had a three-RBI homer to left centerfield in the third inning.

Jamison Gilman started in the circle for the Chiefs, allowing two hits and no runs in two innings, striking out three and recording no walks. Mikayla McAnally threw an inning in relief, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out three.

Kyleee Langham went 3-3 at bat for the Lady Chiefs. Gilman, Chloe Ragsdale, and Riley Brooks each had multiple hits for NHS.

The Chiefs earned win in a run-ruled three innings.

Tate Beats Yukon, OK, Monday Night On Day One Of Aggie Classic

The host Tate Aggies earned one for the win column in their first game of the 29th Aggie Classic.

The Aggies beat the Millers of Yukon, Oklahoma, 5-2 in Cantonment.

Neal Croom earned the win on the mound for Tate, giving up four hits and a couple of runs in two innings while striking out five and recording no walks.  Nate Conners collected the save in two innings, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Bray Touchstone and Madox Land each had two hits for Tate Ketch King,Clif Quiggins, Connor Hassell, and Brayden Beck each drove in one run for the Aggies.

In their second Game of the Aggie Classic, Tate will face the Maroons of Perry, Oklahoma, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Cantonment.
