PFC Lester Calvin Peebles

PFC Lester Calvin Peebles, United States Army, Vietnam Era, who was 80 years old, passed away in Bay Minette, Alabama on June 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He originally came from Bratt, Florida, but he spent most of his life living in Atmore, Alabama. His family and friends will remember him for the love and kindness he shared throughout his life.

He had a deep love for fishing, often spending quiet mornings by the lake, casting his line and waiting patiently for a bite. His greatest joy came from being with his family—he cherished every moment with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories during family reunions filled with laughter and stories. Not only did he enjoy the outdoors, but he also had a knack for small engine repair and fixing things around the house. Always ready to lend a hand, he found happiness in helping others, sharing his skills and kindness with friends and family alike.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James McGilbert and Mary Ola Godwin Peebles; wife Sharon Walker Peebles; siblings, Irene Godwin, Henry Peebles, Vernon Peebles, Wilborn Peebles, Clifton Peebles, Catherine Stuart, Silas Peebles, Leroy Peebles, Baby Peebles; ½ siblings, five brothers and 1 sister.

Mr. Peebles is survived by his sons, Lawrence Lester and wife Mallory Peebles of Atmore, Alabama, Anthony Peebles of Atmore, Alabama and Frankie Peebles of Atmore, Alabama; companion Linda Roberts of Rabun, Alabama; brothers, Arthur Raymond Peebles of Century, Florida and Paul Peebles of Cantonment, Florida; sisters, Ruth Spender of Boston Massachusetts and Luverne Diamond of Flomaton, Alabama; grandchildren Korthan Jo Peebles, Halle Ra Peebles, Sehoye Rose Buckley, Braxton Gaines Peebles, Elijah Bama Peebles, Joshua (Jordan) Peebles, Colton (Kaylee) Peebles, Tenleigh Brooke Peebles, Ashley Peebles, and Frankie Peebles; four great- grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregiver Cathy Cassanova.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Anthony Peebles officiating.

Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home
