Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck By SUV In Cantonment

A 22-year-old Cantonment man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by an SUV on County Road 97.

The crash occurred around 4:22 PM near Andrea Lane, just south of West Kingsfield Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 66-year-old Pensacola woman was traveling south on County Road 97 in a sport utility vehicle. Troopers said the 22-year-old pedestrian was traveling north on foot in the southbound travel lane when he was struck by the front of the SUV.

The pedestrian suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene by a LifeFlight medical helicopter to a Pensacola hospital.

The driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
