Outside Burn Blamed For Muscogee Road House Fire In Cantonment

October 2, 2026

Escambia County Fire Rescue has determined the cause of a Thursday afternoon house fire in Cantonment to be stray embers from an outside fire.

Firefighters were dispatched around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Muscogee Road, where arriving crews encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof due to a fire in the attic.

While crews quickly brought the flames under control, the home sustained significant damage. Following an investigation of the scene, officials confirmed that embers blowing from a nearby outdoor fire ignited the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

Units responding to the scene included the Cantonment, Ensley, Bellview, and Beulah stations of Escambia County Fire Rescue, along with Escambia County EMS.
