Alton Ray Nelson

Alton Ray Nelson, age 75 passed peacefully on Thursday June 19, at West Florida Hospital.

Alton was born on October 23,1950 in Century, Florida.

Alton known to many as Snowball worked until retirement at Wayne Dalton Corporation in Century. When he wasn’t working he would be working on some old car in the backyard, and just about every weekend at the drag races racing cars with his brother and cousin. Snowball loved attending the family reunions and trips to the catfish ponds. In the last few years he enjoyed the time he spent with his cousin Tommy making Walmart runs and just riding the
roads.

Alton is survived by his sister: Marcella Glenn, Brothers: Arthur D. (Buddy) (Marjorie) Nelson, Douglas (Shirley) Nelson. Along with several nieces and nephews, and a special cousin (like a brother) Tommy Nelson.

Alton is preceded in death by his parents Nick and Susie Nelson of Jay. Sisters: Nancy Diane Nelson, Joyce Phillips and Brother: Larry Don Nelson. Services for Alton will be held at Jay Funeral Chapel with visitation on Tuesday June 24, starting at 11 a.m. with services at noon Burial will follow at Cora Baptist Cemetery. Jay Funeral is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Dillon Nelson, Keith Nelson, Rocky Phillips, Tommy Nelson, Zack Nelson, and Zander Nelson Family would like to thank Baptist Hospital and Vitas healthcare (hospice) facilities for all their caring staff that helped our family with this transition.
