Molino Man Charged With Assault, Child Abuse In Family Altercation

A Molino man is facing assault and child abuse charges after an alleged altercation with his family.
Brandon Sharef Spencer, 44, is charged with child abuse, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault.
Specere allegedly was drinking and became upset with his wife and their child. The wife said he hit her in the face with a liquor bottle before swinging “a pole” at her and the child, according to an arrest report.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report notes there was another possible victim that left the scene before they arrived; family declined to provide the individual’s name.
Deputies reported finding a liquor bottle in the front yard, an orange Black & Decker pole that appeared to have blood on the shaft, and blood leading from the front porch into the residence and down a hallway.
An ECSO K-9 located Spencer, who was aggressive and appeared to be intoxicated, the arrest report states.
The victims refused transport to the hospital.
Spencer remained in the Escambia County Jail Friday morning with bond set at $25,000.
Cantonment Woman Charged After Throwing Rocks And Bricks At Three People, ECSO Says

A Cantonment woman is facing felony charges after allegedly throwing brings and rocks at three people “placing them all in fear for their lives”.
Lea Ann Mathis, 33, was charged with three felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
One victim told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that she was inside her home with her boyfriend when they heard a loud banging outside where they found Mathis screaming obscenities and hitting the home with a stick. Mathis then threw multiple bricks at the victims while they were on the porch. She then went next door, retrieved various sized rocks and returned. She threw those rocks at the two victims, plus a neighbor that had arrived, according to an arrest report.
There were no injuries reported.
The ECSO report does not indicate what prompted Mathis in her alleged actions.
Bond for Mathis was set at $12,000.
10,000 Pound Food Giveaway Next Tuesday Afternoon In Cantonment

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a drive-thru 10,000 pound food giveaway next Tuesday afternoon, August 22 at Carver Park on Webb Street.
The food distribution will begin at 3 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. People should line up their vehicles, single file on Webb Street facing north; food will be loaded into vehicles. Identification is required.

Tate’s Got Players: Aggies Top Washington In Kickoff Classic (With Photo Gallery)

“Tate’s got players.”
That was the word from Tate Aggies head coach Rhett Summerford following a kickoff classic game on a hot Thursday night against the Washington Wildcats in Pete Gindl Stadium in Cantonment.
Officially, no score was kept for the preseason game on Tate’s new video scoreboard. But unofficially, Tate doubled up on Washington 36-18.
“You know, in normal times, Tate has not had players. We want our athletes to play, and that’s the brand we are going to play with is to get our athletes the ball and see what they do. I thought they had a great night tonight, and we’re going to continue to do that. It does not matter who we play, and our kids are excited about the change.”
“We’ve worked really hard in our weight room,” he continued. “There’s things we got to work on; it was evident really in the first drive.
“I was really proud of our defense tonight,” Summerford added. “The community coming out was awesome, just really proud of our kids.”
The Aggies will host the Pine Forest Eagles next Friday night to start the regular season.
“We’ve got a tough one next week,” the coach said. “Here comes a good team; we know that. I mean Pine Forest is a really good team, but we’re up for the challenge. You know in college football they play those big games early. I love that; I’m going to love the atmosphere.”

Una Annette ‘Ann’ Godwin Miller

Una Annette “Ann” Godwin Miller, age 90, of Ringgold, GA passed away on August 16, 2023 in Dalton, GA. She was born on November 1, 1932 in Oak Grove, FL to Lawrence Floyd Godwin and Annie Leona Greer Godwin. She cherished trips with her husband to the mountains. She also loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert F. Miller, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Miller and her siblings, Evelyn, Hazel, Janice, Windell and Louis.
She is survived by children: Robert (Tammy) Miller, Brenda (Carlos) Ferley, Eddie Miller, and Michael (Patty) Miller; twelve grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Oak Grove, FL with Bro. Dennis Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Miller, Eddie Miller, Cory Suckley, Ashton Suckley, Robbie Miller, AJ Miller and Robert “Bud” Miller.

Mr. Harold Ray Brown, age 80, passed away, Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home in Atmore, AL; surrounded by his loving family. He has resided most of his life in McDavid, FL; before moving to Atmore. He was an Elder and Pastor of Union Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Brown enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching and taking all the kids to all their sporting events He always enjoyed sitting down to watch a good western.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Van Daw (Maggie Hall) Brown, one son, Steven A. Brown, four brothers, Van Brown, Jr; Isaac Brown, Edward Brown, Harvey Brown, four sisters, Shirley, Effie, Ida Mae, and Dorris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Oleta Brown, of Atmore, AL; one son, Gerald Brown, of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Cynthia (Chris) Smith, of Warner Robbins, GA; one brother, Troy (Betty) Brown, of McDavid, FL; daughter in-law, Angie Brown, of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren, Derek Brown, Katie Miliam, Roy Brown, Carrie Simonye, Tammie Stump, Jackson Smith, Kendal Smith, Presleigh Smith, Ella Smith, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Ninth Straight Loss For The Blue Wahoos

The Blue Wahoos have enjoyed a 2023 season filled with a first-half division win and various franchise feats.
But a record they matched Thursday was one they hoped to avoid.
Taking on the usual Thursday identity as Pensacola Mullets, a two-week losing streak reached nine games, after the home team managed just three hits and the Montgomery Biscuits cruised to a 5-1 victory at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
This was the third loss in as many games to Montgomery. It equated into the first time the Blue Wahoos (61-49 overall, 20-22 in second half) have lost nine games in a row since May 2013, the ballclub’s second season.
Pregame Thursday had a festive vibe with the annual Mardi Gras Night and members of various local krewes tossing beads and candy.
The good times didn’t roll, however, once the game started.
The Biscuits (59-52 overall, 23-19 second half), the Tampa Bay Rays affiliate, got two runs in the first inning off Pensacola starter M.D. Johnson. He yielded an unearned run in the third inning, one of three infield errors the Mullets made in the game.
Bennett Hostetler generated some crowd energy with his solo homer in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to 3-1. But the Biscuits responded with consecutive doubles off Johnson in the fourth inning and pushed lead to 5-1.
He was pulled after four innings, allowing six hits and the five runners. The bullpen was solid, a bright spot of the game for the Mullets. Josan Méndez, Matt Pushard and Brady Puckett combined to deliver five scoreless innings.
But the team’s bats have been quiet in all three games this week, resulting in defeats.
Pensacola was unable to string together multiple baserunners and set up a potential rally. In the entire game, the club had two hitters reach in the same inning only once – the seventh inning – but that happened with two outs.
An infield single by Davis Bradshaw in the eighth inning and ninth inning single by Cody Morissette were Pensacola’s only other hits.
The series now shifts to the weekend with a special Giveaway Friday on Salute To Service Night presented by the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. It will feature a Ted Williams Bobblehead of his likeness in a Bronson Bombers uniform while stationed at NAS Pensacola during World War II.
Williams, the last player in Major League Baseball history to bat over .400 when he hit .406 in 1941, earned his U.S. Marine Corps Wings of Gold while training during WWII in Pensacola. He later returned during the Korean War.
This night will recognize all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and feature several ceremonial first pitches, led by NAS Pensacola Commanding Officer Capt. Terrence Shashaty.

Mom Of Alleged Home Depot Shooter Now Behind Bars In Escambia County

The mother charged with helping her son in last week’s Home Depot murder is now in the Escambia County Jail.
Sheila Agee, 50, is being held without bond on a charge of principal to first degree murder.
She is accused of helping to coordinate the murder of 18-year old Brooklyn Sims by her 20-year old son, Keith Agee last Friday inside the Home Depot on Davis Highway. Sheila Agee reportedly gave Sims a ride to work at the store.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, the mother and son collaborated in the hours leading up to the murder in a series of text messages. She was arrested Monday in Washington County, Alabama, and extradited to Florida to face charges.
