Janie Pearl Marshall Godwin

Janie Pearl Marshall Godwin, 82, of Atmore, AL, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Atmore, AL. Born on June 13, 1944, to Arthur D. “Tots” Marshall and Lillie Pearl Marshall. Janie was a retired seamstress at Vanity Fair for many years; she also retired as a school bus driver for the Escambia County Board of Education. She also worked at Walmart for several years. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Janie is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Annie Bell Marshall Stocker.

She is survived by her loving son, Patrick Godwin of Atmore, AL, a niece, and a nephew who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Cornelius Phillips and Bro. Mark Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Peacock, Roper Peacock, Eric Hall, Nathan Basco, Jordan Tolbert, Dillon Godwin, Mitch Crutchfield, and Johnnie Buckhault.

A Celebration of Life fellowship will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist church immediately following the graveside service.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
