Pace wins the Aggie Classic; Tate Falls To Broken Arrow In Nine

The Pace Patriots claimed the Aggie Classic championship Thursday night with a 4-1 win over Union, Oklahoma.

In the consolation game, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma defeated Tate 5-4 in nine innins.

A homerun from Ethan McAnally tied things up 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth. McAnally led the Aggies at the plate, going 3-4.

Tate Drops Midweek Aggie Classic Game (With Gallery)

The Tate Aggies dropped a midweek Aggie Classic game 3-1 to Union, Oklahoma.

Rilee Lowery went six innings for Tate Wednesday night, allowing two hits, two runs, walking one and striking out seven. Colton Swiers pitched one inning in relief, giving up one hit, one run and walking out one.

James Davis led the Aggies at the plate, going 2-3.

Aggie Classic: Tate Wins No-Hitter Against Santa Fe South

Three Tate pitchers combined for a no-hitter as the Tate Aggies beat Santa Fe South (OK) 9-0 on day two of the Aggie Classic.

Gabriel Patterson started for Tate, going three innings with no hits, no runs, no walks and striking out eight. Aiden Byrd went for three, striking out five, and Tristin Lynn pitched one with two strikeouts.

Cliften Quiggins and Javin Floyd led at the plate for the Aggies with two hits each.

Tate will play Union (OK) High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday as the Aggie Classic continues.

Tate Aggies Beat Norman North (OK) In Day One Of Aggies Classic

The Tate Aggies beat Norman North (OK) 5-1 on the first day of the Aggie Classic.

Drew Reaves allowed three hits and one run, striking out 13, in seven innings.

Brayden Touchstone Touchstone had a homer in the third inning, going 3-4 at the plate to lead the Aggies.

Tuesday,Tate will play Santa Fe South (OK) at 7 p.m.

Tate High Wrestler Lahela Turnquest Places At State For The Second Year

Tate High School sophomore Lahela Turnquest placed seventh in the 120 division of the Florida High School Athletic Association state championships.

Turnquest is a two-time district champion and two-time regional runner up. Last year, she placed seventh in the 115 division at state.

Turnquest was the only Tate High wrestler to qualify for state this year.

This Week: It’s The Aggie Classic With 22 Baseball Teams From Four States

March 12, 2023

This week is spring break, and that means it’s time for the annual Aggie Classic.

There will be 22 teams from across Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma playing at six different host sites in three counties this week, all hoping to take home the Aggie Classic championship.

The host Tate Aggies will play Norman North, Oklahoma, on Monday, Santa Fe South, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, and Union, Oklahoma, on Wednesday. All games are set for 7 p.m. The winners will advance to games on Thursday.

In the past decade, the Aggies have claimed the title in 2016, 2019 and 2022. (The tourney was canceled in 2020 and 2021.)

South Walton Tops Northview

March 11, 2023

The Northview Chiefs fell to the South Walton Seahawks 7-0 Friday night in Santa Rosa Beach.

The Seahawks were up 4-0 by the end of the first inning  and added one run in the third and two in the fourth. The game was scoreless in the final three innings.

Jamarkus Jefferson pitched three innings, allowing five hits on five runs and striking out five. Cason Burkett went for three, allowing four hits and two runs while recording two strikeouts.

Wyatt Scruggs had the only hit of the night for the Chiefs with a single in the second inning.

The Chiefs will return to action following spring break as they travel for a rematch with Pensacola Christian Academy on Tuesday, March 21. Last Thursday night, Northview shut out PCA 12-0.

Tate Aggies Blast Washington 18-4 (With Gallery)

The Tate Aggies blasted the Washington Wildcats 18-4 Thursday night.

Brayden Touchstone led the Aggies in the hitting onslaught, going 5-6 with a seventh inning home run. Cliften Quiggins went 4-6, while Drew Reaves and Madox Land were 3-4.

Four pitchers — Aiden Byrd, Colton Swiers, Rilee Lowery and Tristin Lynn — combined to allow just four hits and three runs while striking out 15.

The Aggies will host the annual Aggie Classic next week during spring break.

Northview Shuts Out Pensacola Christian 12-0 (With Gallery)

March 10, 2023

Three pitchers combined to throw a shutout Thursday night in Bratt as the Northview Chiefs beat the Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors 12-0 in five innings.

Jamarkus Jefferson earned the win in one and two-thirds innings, giving up one hit, no runs, one walk and striking out three. Tyler Shaw went for one and a third innings with no runs, not hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Kaden Odom was on the mound for two innings with no runs, no hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

Josh Landis went 2-3, and Grayden Sheffield was 2-2 to lead the Chiefs at the plate. Odom, Jefferson, and  Shaw added one hit each.

Odom had four stolen bases on the night.

Northview will head to Santa Rosa Beach Friday night to take on South Walton before sitting out spring break next week.
