“Credit to Jay, they showed a lot of character from them because we had just beaten them by 33 last week. They easily could have come in and laid down like hey we are going to lose again, but I thought they fought really hard, and coaches did a really good job,” Northview head coach Derek Marshman said after the win.
Marshman said the Chiefs suffered from turnovers that led to a much closer game this week between the Royals and Chiefs.
“Five turnovers, four in the first half and one in the second half and then really six if you count a pick on a two point conversion. So sloppy from us but our kids were resilient and they fought hard; they battled through the adversity Our first three possessions was three turnovers; our opening kicking and then our next two possessions were three turnovers but our kids are resilient, they battled,” Marshman said. “Different game than last week, it played out differently they made us work a little bit more made us go on drives a little bit. We were able to sustain those and I thought we did a really good job of finishing.”
Junior Jaheem Durant had an offensive touchdown, defensive touchdown and a special teams touchdown to lead Chiefs. Trent Peebles, Jayden Jackson, Mark Findley, and Jaheem Durant had touchdowns for Northview, and Marshman also gave a lot of credit to the D-line.
“The defense played really good ,” he said. “They had a lot of success last week with the pass and Keyshawn Breedlove really stepped up with a big, big game tonight. He ended up with a pick and the defensive line was just great tonight on pass rush, I mean time after time getting to the quarterback, hurrying him, sacking him, forcing fumbles….I thought we did great upfront some success there late against the run. Overall defensive line did a great job.”
The Chiefs (8-2) will travel about 120 miles down the road to Vernon (7-3) next week for the Region 1-1A semifinals.
“It’s going to be a heck of a football game I’m sure,” Marshman said. “It’s going to be a big time challenge for us. We will have to play better. We can’t afford five turnovers next week.”

Auburn Kidnapping Suspect Arrested In Escambia County
November 8, 2019
A nationwide manhunt came to an end Thursday when an Alabama man wanted for the disappearance of a woman in Auburn was arrested in Escambia County.
Ibraheem Yazeed, 30, is wanted on an Auburn Police Division warrant for kidnapping in the first degree stemming from the investigation of the disappearance of Aniah Haley Blanchard between Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, and Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019.
The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task force, with the assistance of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, took Yazeed into custody after a brief foot pursuit near the Pine Forest Road exit on I-10. ECSO responded after being called by U.S. Marshals in Montgomery.
Yazeed is being held without bond in the Escambia County Jail.
“Yazeed was at the same location Blanchard was last seen and is involved in taking Aniah against her will. Additional charges and/or arrests are anticipated,” Auburn Police said. Blanchard is still missing.
Evidence from within Blanchard’s vehicle (pictured below) was recovered in Montgomery. It was examined by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and has determined that she was harmed and is considered to be a victim of foul play.
He was also out on bond on other kidnapping and attempted murder charges in separate case.

FDLE Raids Escambia County Public Safety Office
November 8, 2019
Agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement raided the Escambia County Public Safety Building Thursday afternoon.
FDLE seized county records in connection with an investigation.
“The county continues to cooperate with an ongoing state investigation that includes the gathering of records, some of which are housed at the public safety building,” Escambia County Administrator Janice Gilley told NorthEscambia.com.
The Florida Department of Health began an investigation earlier this year into allegations involving the possible falsification of training certificates by Escambia EMS.
In an April 2019 statement, the county said: “While we are unable to comment about specifics of any ongoing investigation, we can tell you that our own processes through our medical director alerted county leadership to possible training discrepancies and other areas of concern within EMS in 2018. A challenge was finding documentable evidence to bring forward for review. An internal investigation began in January 2019 and then was turned over by the county to the Florida Department of Health with a cover letter from our medical director outlining our concerns, as the scope falls under their jurisdiction and expertise.”

Human Trafficking, Sexual Battery Charges Dropped Against Cantonment Man
November 8, 2019
Charges including human trafficking have been dropped against a Cantonment man.
John Chess Foster was arrested late last month for human trafficking, sexual battery, false imprisonment and battery due to allegations made by the woman that had lived with him for nearly five years.
The arrest report states the victim told deputies he gets high on methamphetamine, brings guys over and forces her to perform sexual acts on them. She stated that he has facilitated sexual contact between her and over 20 men where he forces her to sit naked before telling her what acts to perform on them and making her bathe with bleach when finished.
He denies the allegations, and now the State Attorney’s Office has dropped all charges because the victim is not cooperating with investigators and information provided by a neighbor contradicts her claims.
The State Attorney’s Office said they are continuing their investigation into the case and looking into if the alleged victim could face charges for filing a false police report.
Wastewater Spill Reported At Gulf Power’s Plant Crist
November 8, 2019
Thousands of gallons of wastewater spilled Thursday at Gulf Power’s Plant Crist.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection said a release of industrial wastewater occurred as a result of malfunction of an air relief valve on the ECUA return water line the power plant.
In response to the incident, Gulf Power isolated the valve and shut-off flow through the line. It is estimated that up to approximately 9,000 gallons was released to the surrounding ground surface over approximately 90 minutes, with a small amount captured by the industrial wastewater system. There was no direct discharge to surface water or wetlands.
