UWF Named FCS National Team Of The Week, Breaks Into National Rankings

Last Thursday’s 34-31 win over No. 16 Southern Illinois has helped UWF Football receive the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week as well as secure a spot in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.

On Monday, the Argos were named the National Team of the Week after they won their first game of the FCS era in front of a home crowd of over 6,000. Starting quarterback Ty’Ray Davis threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in his first collegiate start. Bryon Puryear, who was named the United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week had seven tackles with three tackles for loss and a sack in the win.

In addition to the team of the week award, the Argos also broke into the Top 25 national rankings at the No. 25 spot. UWF also began receiving votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll.

UWF will open UAC play at Central Arkansas on Saturday with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
