Minnie Hastings Daw

Minnie Hastings Daw, born July 25, 1943, in Pineville, FL, to Morris James Hastings and Clara Burkett Hastings, passed away September 24, 2026, in Atmore, AL.

The 6th of 8 children, Minnie attended Ernest Ward School. She married Franklin Edward Daw on March 8, 1961. Together they had 3 children, Robbie Daw (Brian) Toomey, Rhonda Daw (late husband Don) Melvin, and Franklin John (Julie Hawkes) Daw.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Franklin Edward Daw, and her son-in-law Don Melvin.

Minnie had 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and one more on the way in May of 2027.

She worked as a store clerk and seamstress, but her main jobs were that of a homemaker, Mom, and Memaw.

Minnie will be remembered as a loving Mother and Memaw who gave freely of herself to see the ones she loved happy.

She was fiercely protective, sometimes overly so, but loved her family more than anything. Most importantly, she was a born-again Christian who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Her favorite scriptures being, The Lord’s Prayer, 23rd Psalm, and 2 Timothy 4:6-8.

She will be greatly missed by those who love her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Frost officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Wawbeek, AL.

Pallbearers will be Billy Hawkes, Jacob Daw, Joshua Toomey, Joe Toomey, Timothy Melvin, and Trent Peebles.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
