Flomaton Parents Charged With Child Torture After Juvenile Hospitalized In Critical Condition

Two Flomaton parents have been arrested on felony child abuse and torture charges after their child was taken to a Pensacola hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.
Eric Douglas McClure, 41, and Cynthia Danielle Tedder, 36, are facing charges of torture and willful abuse of a child under 18 years of age by a responsible person.
The Flomaton Police Department reported that Florida authorities first alerted them to the situation around 5:13 a.m. on Tuesday. Officials stated a juvenile from Flomaton had been transported to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola in critical condition.
Following initial information gathered from hospital and law enforcement officials in Florida, the Flomaton Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries. Officers subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant at the child’s home in Flomaton.
Investigators then secured arrest warrants for both McClure and Tedder.
Both individuals were taken into custody in Escambia County, Florida, a and were being held awaiting extradition back to Alabama, where they will be booked into the Escambia County Jail in Brewton.
Flomaton Police Chief Justin Hetrick said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details have not been released to protect both the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of the juvenile.
