Escambia Animal Shelter Offering Free Cat And Dog Adoptions

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is partnering with the Bissell Pet Foundation for its “Empty the Shelters” adoption event, offering free adoptions for dogs and cats aged one year or older through Wednesday, September 30.

Escambia County Animal Welfare encourages community members to visit the shelter and consider providing a forever home to pets in need.

For pets younger than one year, adoption fees are reduced to $50 for puppies and $25 for kittens. A $15 licensing fee applies to all adoptions for Escambia County residents. All animals available through participating shelters are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Empty the Shelters is the nation’s largest funded adoption event, helping more than 431,000 pets find homes across the United States and Canada since starting in 2016. Sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, the program partners with hundreds of animal welfare organizations to reduce adoption fees and increase accessibility for families looking to adopt.

The Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center is located at 200 West Fairfield Drive in Pensacola. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
