New Traffic Pattern On I-10 Eastbound Near Highway 29 Exit

I-10 eastbound travel lanes have been shifted to provide a dedicated work zone just south of the interstate.
Here is a look at morning commuters using the new, temporary traffic configuration. This aerial view is looking westward towards the Highway 29 exit.
The traffic shift allows crews to perform construction activities for future interstate widening and realignment and the replacement of the North Palafox Street bridge.
This temporary traffic configuration is anticipated to remain in place through late 2026.
Drivers are reminded that the posted speed limit in this area has been reduced to 50 mph. Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Speeding fines may be doubled when workers are present.
Construction for the I-10 at U.S. 29 interchange improvement project is scheduled for completion in 2030.

Some of the comments stem from the ignorance of the person writing the negative remarks. Many have no idea what it takes to keep traffic flowing on this type of project. The Contractor would love to shut down US29, the railroad, and the eastbound traffic on I10. It would make their job much simpler. Patience is the key.
Fred……they probably did not have OSHA back then….so it was faster. lol
It amazes how impatient the motoring public can be with the size of this I-10 project. A new overpass, new railroad crossing and new elevated dedicated overshoot over 29 is going to take a little time. I see a lot of dirt being moved and clearing happening along the entire route along with the installation of sound deadening barriers. Can we all just relax and appreciate the work being done? That the added infrastructure will pay dividends down the line.
Just be glad you’re not a trucker stuck in this mess and that as a local you have other route options…settle down folks! It’s going to be okay
The simple drainage improvement and road paving project on West Roberts may never end as well. It started out going so well, worked looked good, lately, not so good.
