Annie Wilma Hendricks Lord

Annie Wilma Hendricks Lord was born in Mt. Carmel, Florida, on July 15, 1930. She left this world to enter her heavenly home on July 31, 2026.
She married James Lord in 1950 and celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last September. James and Annie had a deep and abiding love for each other and the family that came from their sacred union.
She was a loving mother to her children, Larry, Trena, and Marcus. After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, Annie pursued her education degree. In 1969, she became a member of the inaugural graduating class of the University of West Florida.
After completing her education, Annie spent twenty years serving as a first-grade teacher at Olive Elementary School, later known as Lincoln Park. Upon her retirement, Annie became an avid volunteer. She volunteered in multiple classrooms, including one of her granddaughter’s. Annie also worked with an after-school tutoring program at her church. She loved helping children learn to read.
Annie was an excellent seamstress. Later in life, she went through a certification process to learn how to alter clothes for wounded and disabled veterans. She modified countless shirts and pants for soldiers whom she never met.
Annie’s greatest loves were her family, her church, and volunteering. She walked her faith out in every part of her life. She served her church in multiple capacities, including teaching Sunday school and faithfully making weekly visits to shut-ins. She had a strong work ethic and set high expectations for herself and others. Yet, she had a deep understanding of God’s grace and offered that to everyone she encountered.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and caregivers who helped make the final season of her life full of loving care and dignity. VITAS, Milton Island Doctors, Arcadia Senior Living, and Cornerstone provided invaluable services to Annie.
Annie is survived by her husband, James Lord; her children, Larry (Sharon) Lord, Trena (John) Webb, and Marcus (Pam) Lord; her brothers, Barnett (Mary Evelyn) Hendricks, Donald (Rachel) Hendricks, and William (Opal) Hendricks; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mamie Hendricks; and her siblings, Mabel Campbell, Flora Mae Cole, Mildred Golden, Lula Belle Hendricks, James Hendricks, and John D. Hendricks.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Chumuckla Community Church, located at 8008 Chumuckla Highway, Chumuckla, Florida 32571. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Johnny Johnson and Rev. Tom Sharon will officiate. Interment will follow at Elizabeth Chapel Church Cemetery.
