Molino Library Holds No-So-Scary Spooky Walk (With Gallery)

Kids of all ages entered a world of not-so-scary thrills at the Molino Library’s family friendly Spooky Walk Saturday afternoon.

On the walking track behind the library, attendees wandered through festive stations featuring spooky crafts, zombie bowling, a haunted bean bag toss, and more ghoulishly delightful games.

UWF Argos Improve Tto 8-0 With Dominant Win Over West Virginia State

The UWF Argos stayed perfect on the season after a dominant 55-6 win over West Virginia State on Saturday afternoon at PenAir Field.

It was a lopsided victory as UWF, the No. 3 team in the nation, out gained the Yellow Jackets 478-132 in total offense. The Argo defense produced five sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception while only allowing an average of 2.8 yards per play to the visitors. WVSU was only 1-of-11 on third down conversions. Leading the stout defense was senior linebacker Ja’Kobe Clinton with nine tackles including three tackles for loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass break up. Chester Fearon recorded his third interception of the season with a pick near midfield in the second quarter.

TJ Lane and the UWF rush offense controlled the contest. The Argos ran the ball 48 times for 268 yards and five scores. Lane had three touchdowns to go with 67 rush yards. Three touchdowns in a game is a new career high for the redshirt sophomore.

The 8-0 Argos have had the best start in program history. Next week the team will head to Delta State for a massive Gulf South Conference showdown between two nationally-ranked teams. Delta State is coming off a 41-38 win over No. 11 West Alabama. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Walnut Hill Woman Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop In Atmore

October 26, 2025

A routine traffic stop late Thursday night led to the arrest of a Walnut Hill woman on multiple drug charges in Atmore.

Tracy Showers, 48, was taken into custody after an Atmore Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop near Martin Luther King Drive at approximately 11:15 p.m.

According to Atmore Police Sgt. Darrell McMann, the officer pulled the vehicle over after observing it swerving into the opposing lane of traffic.

During the interaction with Showers, the driver, the officer noted that she appeared to be under the influence and detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. It was also discovered that her driver’s license was suspended. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of crack cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, and various items identified as drug paraphernalia, according to McMann.

Showers was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

Pensacola Ice Flyers Beat Birmingham 3-2 (With Gallery)

A sellout crowd of 8,082 fans packed the Pensacola Bay Center Saturday night to see the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeat the Birmingham Bulls 3-2.

Bull took over in the second period, netting two more goals to complete the hat trick and give the Ice Flyers a commanding 3-1 lead. Birmingham’s Doug Scott scored late in the third period to make it close, but the Ice Flyers held on for a 3-2 victory.

One Person Seriously Injured In Highway 29, Highway 97 Crash

October 25, 2025

One person was seriously injured in a crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 97 in Molino.

The crash involving multiple vehicle happened at 3:20 p.m.

An adult female was airlifted with serious injuries by LifeFlight helicopter to a Pensacola hospital. Other injuries in the crash were not considered severe.

The crash caused traffic delays at the intersection for over an hour.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating and has not released the cause of the crash.

The Molino Station of Escambia County Fire Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded.

I-65 Wreck Claims Life Of Woman Near Atmore, Shuts Down The Interstate

October 25, 2025

A Saraland woman was killed in a crash early Friday morning on I-65 just north of Atmore.

Alabama State Troopers said that 74-year-old Victoria B. Rodgers was fatally injured when the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan she was driving was struck by a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 61-year-old Henry L. Howard of Montgomery. After the initial impact, the Volkswagen left the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and overturned. Rodgers was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred about three miles north of the Atmore exit about 5 a.m. and shut down both the northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate for several hours.

Troopers are continuing their investigation.

Northview Chiefs Dominate Central (AL) Lions 60-0 (With Photo Gallery)

The Northview Chiefs dominated the Central Lions of Hayneville, Alabama, 60-0 Friday night on Senior Night in Bratt.

On the first play after kickoff, Caleb Levins completed a 33-yard pass to senior Sam Reid to give the Chiefs a 7-0 lead after a good extra point kick from senior Cameron Bourgeois.

Moments later, senior Nate Duffy was in from 46 yards out for another Northview touchdown with less than two minutes off the clock in the first.

That set the tone for the remainder of the game for the Chiefs — touchdowns and interceptions against Central, which only dressed out 14 players.

Northview closed out the first quarter with additional touchdowns from:

  • Hunter Parker, 2-yard rushing
  • Camo Bodiford, 1-yard fumble recovery returned
  • Christian Callender, 30-yard return
  • Cameron Bourgeois, 71-yard rushing
  • Tyson Phifer, fumble return

At the end of the first, Northview was up 47-0. After a scoreless second quarter, Tyler McAnnally added an 18-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter for the Chiefs, and Wyatt Spence returned a punt 50 yards in the fourth quarter for NHS.

In the second half, it was a running clock with shortened 8-minute quarters.

With the win, Northview improved to 2-7 on the year. Next week, the Chiefs travel to Flomaton for a Halloween Friday night game against the Hurricanes (6-3).
