One Critically Injured In Highway 4 Crash Involving Electric Skateboard

One person on a one-wheel electric skateboard was critically injured Thursday morning on Highway 4 in Byrneville.
A 27-year-old female from Century was found lying on the roadway east of Byrneville Road just after 9 a.m. near her Onewheel Pint.
It appeared she fell from the board.
She was airlifted by LifeFlight helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. An update on her condition was not available.
The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with more information contact them at *FHP at *347.

‘No Signs Of An Active Shooter’ After Report at Corry Station

A shooting incident was reported Thursday morning on Corry Station in Pensacola, but Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons says there was no active shooter.
“We show no signs of an active shooter,” the sheriff said. “We have no injuries.”
An active shooter incident was reported on the base, but no shooter or victims were found, Simmons said.
The ECSO said twere two reports of three gunshots being heard, but there was no evidence of that.
NAS Pensacola confirmed in a statement at 1:08 p.m. — “They have reported that there are now signs of an active shooter, and the area is determined ALL CLEAR.”
The incident was reported about 10 a.m. at the Navy facility on Chiefs Way off Navy Boulevard.
There was a massive response from the military, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Florida HIghway Patrol, FDLE, Pensacola Police, medical helicopters and more.

ECSO Investigating After Century Reports Over $10K In Alleged Employee Theft

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspected case of employee grand theft involving thousands of dollars from the Town of Century.
On Monday, the town reported alleged employee theft with over $10,000 missing from bank deposits, according to Morgan Lewis, ECSO public information officer. She said the town reported that large deposits of cash were missing.
The suspected thefts took place between July 2024 and February 2025. Lewis said the ECSO has multiple persons of interest in the case.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation,” she said.
Century interim Mayor Alicia Johnson said Wednesday afternoon that she could not comment on the ongoing investigation.
The Town of Century collects payments for water, sanitation, and natural gas utilities.

Man Gets 30 Years For Fatal Shoot Of Cantonment Man In Lounge Parking Lot

Wednesday, an Escambia man was sentenced to the maximum for the fatal shooting a Cantonment man in the summer of 2023 at a Pensacola lounge.
Circuit Judge John Simon sentenced 40-year-old Michael Andrew Rodriguez to 30 years in state prison.
He was originally charged with second degree murder but was convicted by an Escambia County jury of a lesser offense of manslaughter. The maximum penalty for the original second-degree murder charge would have been life in prison.

Rodriguez shot Caldwell in the neck after Caldwell grabbed him by the shirt collar. Rodriguez testified at trial and claimed Caldwell was reaching for a gun with his other hand; however, the surveillance video shows Caldwell holding a beer bottle in that hand. Caldwell dropped the bottle when he fell to the ground after being shot.
Following the shooting, Rodriguez shot in the direction of other bystanders and then fled the scene. He was later located and apprehended by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at his girlfriend’s house.
Rodriguez’s wife is awaiting trial and an accessory after the fact for allegedly helping Rodriguez after the shooting. According to investigators, Deomi Polyzos drove to the lounge and picked Rodriquez up after the murder before making stop “presumably to dispose of evidence/the firearm utilized”, an arrest report states. She is due back in court on Thursday for a docket appearance.

The Roy Hyatt Environmental Center (RHEC) invites nature lovers of all ages to its “Night of Nature” event from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Friday. This free, family-friendly event offers a chance to explore the wonders of the natural world after dark.
Attendees can enjoy live birds of prey, night hikes through the woods, stargazing with telescopes, and meet nocturnal creatures. Guests can also experience the inflatable planetarium or visit the Beach House to observe aquatic creatures.
Food trucks will be on-site for refreshments.
While admission is free, donations such as pet store gift cards, wild bird seed, fruit and nut bird seed, turtle pellets, kale or collard greens, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, bleach, or hand sanitizer are welcomed.
Roy Hyatt Environmental Center is located at 1300 Tobias Road in Cantonment.
Northview Chiefs Beat The Flomaton Hurricanes 10-3

The Northview Chiefs scored six runs in the sixth inning on their way to a 10-3 defeat of the Flomaton Hurricane Thursday night at Dewey J. Bondurant Jr. Park in Flomaton.
On the mound, Jackson Bridges earned the win for the Chiefs, giving up six hits and two unearned runs in six innings while walking none and striking out seven. Bryant Mason pitched one inning, surrendering one run and one hit while striking out one.
Riley Harrison took the loss for the Canes, giving up three runs on eight hits, walking none and striking out nine.
Jase Portwood and Brady Smith both had three hits for Northview. Smith led the Chiefs with three RBIs as he went 3-4. Cole Davis, Dane King, Bryant Mason, and Luke Chavers each had multiple hits for NHS.
The Hurricanes were led by Braden Nall as he went 3-4 at bat.
Northview will travel to Jay for a district game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Hurricanes will host Century Thursday at 6 p.m.

Tate Aggies Fall 16-2 At Gulf Breeze (With Gallery)

The Tata Aggies headed across the bay and fell to Gulf Breeze 16-2 Wednesday night.
Zane Warrington took the loss for Tate, surrendering with runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three in two innings.

Houston Lee Farr, Jr. (71) of Milton, Florida went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025. He was born in Pensacola, Florida on February 17, 1954 to the late Houston Lee Farr, Sr. & Orpha Lahleen. He was raised in the Pensacola area and lived most of his adult life in Milton. He was married to his beloved late wife, Karen Moulyet Farr for almost 33 years. Houston worked as a military contractor for most of his successful career. He was an active member of Olive Baptist Church for over 40 years where he enjoyed serving in the children’s ministry. He loved time spent with his five grandchildren. Houston truly had a servant’s heart, always looking for ways to help. He was always quietly in the background taking care of things, never wanting any recognition. Family and friends always called on Houston when they had a home project they needed advice on or any mechanical issue. He was always willing to lend a hand to help a friend.
He is survived by his children, Allen (Ashley) Farr and Kristen (Trey) Fondren; grandchildren, Owen (12), Chandler (11), Olivia (10), Hutch (8), and Oakleigh (5); his sister Mary Farr and multiple nieces and nephews. Upon marrying Karen, he was welcomed into the Moulyet family as one of their own; the late Noland & Mary Louise Moulyet, the late George & Frances Robison, Danny (Sherry) Willis, the late Tom (Carla) Moulyet, Brian (Lisa) Moulyet, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 11:00 am, visitation will be held prior at 10:00 am, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Hwy 29S, Cantonment, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Olive Baptist Church in his name.
