Weather Alert Day: Severe Storms Tonight; Part Of The Area Level 4 Of 5 Risk

Severe storms will likely impact our region from Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. There is moderate (level 4 or 5) risk for the extreme northern part of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida and all of south Alabama. There is an enhanced (level 3 of 5) risk of storms in the remainder of the the North Escambia area.

All modes of severe weather are possible, including damaging winds over 70 mph, tornadoes, and quarter-size or larger hail.

There is a wind advisory with gusts up to 30 mph outside storms.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 4am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 65. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Escambia, Santa Rosa Virus Cases Up By 10, Including Five In Long-Term Care

The number of coronavirus cases in Escambia and Saturday Rosa counties were up by 10 on Sunday, including an increase of five in long-term care facilities. The number of cases in the town counties was unchanged between the morning and evening report.

There are now 309 total COVID cases in Escambia County, up by five since Saturday. Santa Rosa County’s total was up five to 138.

The number of Escambia County cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased by five Sunday to a total of 65. The number of long-term cases in Santa Rosa County increase by one to a total of 10.

Statewide, there were 26,314 cases including 25,598 Florida residents. There have been 3,813 hospitalizations and 774 deaths.

Two More Die From COVID-19 In Escambia County

The number of coronavirus cases in Escambia County topped 300 on Saturday as Escambia County record two new deaths.

Both deaths were long-term care facility patients — a 69-year old male and a 52-year old female. Both had no travel history but did have contact with known cases.

There are now 304 total COVID cases in Escambia County, up by 14 since Friday. Santa Rosa County’s total was up three to 133.

The number of Escambia County cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased by four Saturday to a total of 60. The number of long-term cases in Santa Rosa County increase by eight to a total of nine.

Statewide, there were 25,492 cases including 24,797 Florida residents. There have been 3,745 hospitalizations and 748 deaths.

Be Alert: Sunday Shaping Up To Be A Severe Weather Day; Clouds And Maybe A Shower For Saturday

There is an enhanced risk (level 3 of 5) of severe storms for Sunday across the entire NorthEscambia area.

All severe weather impacts possible, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile, including daging wind gusts, large hail, tornadoes, and heavy rain rates in a short period of time which could lead to flooding. The weather service said the storms will move through Sunday morning through Sunday night, with the best chances for severe weather Sunday afternoon through the late evening.

Two More COVID-19 Deaths Reported In Escambia County

Two additional COVID-19 deaths in Escambia County were reported on Friday for a total of six, along with one death in Santa Rosa County, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County deaths were a 73-year old female with history of travel to Egypt and unknown contact with a previous case, and a 95-year old male with contact with a known case and no travel history. Santa Rosa County’s sixth death was a 66-year old male with no travel history that had contact with a previously diagnosed case.

There are now 290 total COVID cases in Escambia County, up by 13 since Thursday. Santa Rosa County’s total was up 17 to 130.

The number of Escambia County cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased by four Friday to a total of 56.

Statewide, there were 24,753 cases including 24,066 Florida residents. There have been 3,649 hospitalizations and 726 deaths.

Escambia County (AL) Covid-19 Cases Continue To Increase

On Thursday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Escambia County, Alabama, increased to 12, according to the latest data release from the Alabama Department of Health.

ADH is reporting 207 total COVID-19 tests have been performed in Escambia County, a positive rate of about 5.8%. There have been no coronavirus related deaths in Escambia County.

The Alabama Department of Health reported 4,404 total cases in the state from 36,363 tests. Their have been 137 reported deaths statewide.

Fifth COVID-19 Death In Santa Rosa County; Escambia And Santa Rosa Cases Up 19 Thursday

A fifth person has died from COVID-19 in Santa Rosa County, as the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 19 in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties on Thursday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Santa Rosa County’s fifth death was a 65-year old male with no travel history and unknown contact with a known case. Escambia County has seen four deaths.

There are now 277 total COVID cases in Escambia County and 118 in Santa Rosa County.

The number of Escambia County cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased by three on Wednesday to a total of 52.

Statewide, there were 23,340 cases including 22,674 Florida residents. There have been 3,458 hospitalizations and 668 deaths.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Escambia County, Alabama, has increased to 11, according to the latest data release Wednesday from the Alabama Department of Health.

ADH is reporting 191 total COVID-19 tests have been performed in Escambia County, a positive rate of about 5.8%.

The Alabama Department of Health reported 4,241 total cases in the state.
