Search Underway For Missing, Endangered Woman Last Seen At West Florida Hospital

UPDATE: Louella Charlene Powell has been safely located, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are searching for a missing and endangered adult.
Escambia Search and Rescue was searching for 54-year old Louella Charlene Powell Wednesday afternoon in the area of University Parkway and Nine Mile Road.
She was last seen leaving West Florida Hospital on foot on April 7 about 5:30 p.m. She was wearing a long purple jacket, black capri pants and black shoes. She is 5′3″, 160 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, she may be in the need of medical attention.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the ECSO at (850) 436-9620.
Escambia COVID-19 Cases In Long-term Care Facilities Double; Overall Case Count Increases; Statewide Now More Than 300 Dead

The number of coronavirus cases in in residents or staff of long-term care facilities in Escambia County doubled on Wednesday to 16, as the overall number of cases increased by a dozen as Florida’s death toll surpassed 300.
There have been two deaths in Escambia County and two deaths in Santa Rosa County.
The Florida Department of Health reports 180 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 164 are local residents. The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 69.
Statewide, there were 15,456 cases including 15,003 Florida residents. There have been 1,955 hospitalizations and 309 deaths.

Nine Mile Road To Be Reduced To One Lane At Navy Federal Overnight

Nine Mile Road will be reduced to one lane between Heritage Oak Drive and Navy Federal Way from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 to 6 a.m. Thursday, April 9 as crews install traffic delineators. Traffic flaggers will be available to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
All construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Tuesday: COVID-19 Cases Up By 27 In Escambia County, Second Death

A second person has died and two dozen new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Escambia County since Monday, according to the Florida Department of Health. The number of hospitalizations in the county also increased.
The death was a 78-year old male that had contact with a previous case but no travel. The first COVID-19 death in Escambia County was reported Saturday morning — a 75-year old female. There have been two fatalities in Santa Rosa County.
According FDOH’s evening report, there are now eight cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities in Escambia County, an increase of five since Monday.
The Florida Department of Health reports 168 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 150 are local residents.The number of hospitalizations in the county also increased by three to a total of 12.
The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 66.
Statewide, there were 14,747 cases including 14,302 Florida residents. There were 1,894in the hospital and 296 deaths.

Cantonment Improvement Committee Continues Tuesday Food Giveaways

The Cantonment Improvement Committee (CIC) is in week four of feeding children in the community and now their families.
The CIC collects food donations on Mondays and distributes the food every Tuesday afternoon beginning at 3:00 at Carver Park at 208 Webb Street. Food is available while supplies last.

COVID-19 cases increased by 15 in Escambia County and six in Santa Rosa County, according to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health. The increase in Escambia County included the first case reported in the McDavid zip code (which also includes Walnut Hill).
There are now three cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities in Escambia County. The FDOH is not providing any additional details.
The first COVID-19 death in Escambia County was reported Saturday morning — a 75-year old female. There have been two fatalities in Santa Rosa County.
As of Monday, the number of cases in Escambia County was 141 and there were 64 cases in Santa Rosa County.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties increased by 14 from Sunday in the latest report from the Florida Department of Health.
The first COVID-19 death in Escambia County was reported Saturday morning — a 75-year old female. There have been two fatalities in Santa Rosa County.
As of Sunday, the number of cases in Escambia County was 129, and increase of four. There were 58 cases in Santa Rosa County, an increased of three.
Statewide, there were 13,324 cases including 12,925 Florida residents. There were 1,592 in the hospital and 236 deaths.

Century To Hold Council Meeting Tonight By Phone Due To COVID-19

The Town of Century will conduct their Monday night council meetings by phone due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines.
A bill list review meeting at 6:45 p.m. and the regular council meeting at 7 p.m. can be accessed by calling (712) 770-5019 and entering 227646# when prompted. There is no fee for using the service, but long distance and per minute charges may apply depending on your phone plan.
An order from Gov. Ron DeSantis allows public bodies in Florida to meet without a quorum in the same physical room, but all other aspects of the Sunshine Law still apply.
