20th COVID-19 Death, 11 New Cases Reported In Escambia County

One death and 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.

The death was an 84-year old long-term care facility resident with no travel history that had previous contact with a known patient.

The Escambia County total now stands at 682. The Santa Rosa County is up by two to 182.

Of the 20 deaths in Escambia County, 15 have been long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 44,138 cases including 42,940 Florida residents. There have been 7,959 hospitalizations and 1,917 deaths.

Six new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County total now stands at 671. The Santa Rosa County is up by one to 180.

Of the 19 deaths in Escambia County, 14 have been long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 43,210 cases including 42,038 Florida residents. There have been 7,749 hospitalizations and 1,875 deaths.

Sunny And Warmer Each Day; Burn Ban In Effect

A burn ban remains in effect for all of Escambia County, including Century, Pensacola and all of the unincorporated county. The ban includes campfires, bonfires and burning trash. Outdoor cooking in barbecue grills, smokers and other outdoor stoves is allowed.

Six new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County total now stands at 665. The Santa Rosa County remained the same at 179.

Of the 19 deaths in Escambia County, 14 have been long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 42,402 cases including 41,236 Florida residents. There have been 7,595 hospitalizations and 1,827 deaths.

Update: Missing 13-Year Old Girl Found Safe

Previous story:

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is seeing help to locate a missing 13-year old girl.

Christina Elizabeth Chappell was last seen Tuesday about 2:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of White Oak Drive between East Burgess Road and Hancock Lane.  She was wearing a dark pink t-shirt and black shorts, and may be riding a white and teal bicycle.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to the call the ECSO at (850) 436-9620.

19th COVID-19 Death, 18 New Cases Reported In Escambia County

A 19th COVID-19 death and 18 new cases have been recorded in Escambia County, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The death was a 90-year old female long-term care facility patients with no travel history and that had contact with a known patient. She passed away April 22, but her death was just announced on Tuesday.

With Escambia County’s 18 new cases, the county total now stands at 659. The Santa Rosa County total increase by three to 179.

Of the 19 deaths in Escambia County, 14 have been long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 40,982 cases including 39,888 Florida residents. There have been 7,224 hospitalizations and 1,735 deaths.

Update: Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Wednesday In Century; No Pre-screening Call Needed

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing will be available Wednesday in Century.

Community Health Northwest Florida will conduct the testing from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 440 East Hecker Road at the Head Start building (former elementary school). There is no pre-screening required.

The testing was originally announced as walk-up but will now be drive-thru with walk-up service available.

Escambia County Commissioner Steven Barry and the Century Area Chamber of Commerce helped coordinate the testing event for Escambia County, Florida, residents only.

The drive-up testing is for all ages, newborn and up. who are symptomatic, or for other reasons feel the need to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19). Test kit quantities are limited.

According to Community Health:

  • The tests are no-cost to the individual. If you have health insurance, your insurance will cover cost If you do not have insurance. If you do not have insurance, you can still be tested free of charge. Bring an identification and insurance card (if you have insurance).
  • Testing is not a doctor visit. You will not receive a medical examination. Community Health will only be collecting a specimen to send to a lab for processing, and then you will be free to go.
  • Once your test is complete, is it critical that you go home and self-isolate, wear a face covering and keep way from other people (including family members) to the best of your ability until results are known.
  • Community Health will call to share test results when they are available along with instructions on what to do next. They should have a good working contact number for you. They will not leave test result information on a voicemail message.
