COVID-19 Cases Increase By 26 In Escambia, Santa Rosa

The number of COVID-19 cases in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties increased by 26 in the Saturday data release from the Florida Department of Health.
There were 16 new cases reported in Escambia County Friday for a total of 634 positive people. The Santa Rosa County total increase by 10 to 172.
Of the 18 deaths in Escambia County, 13 were long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.
Statewide, there were 40,001 cases including 38,926 Florida residents. There have been 7,093 hospitalizations and 1,715 deaths.

Walk-up COVID-19 Testing Next Week In Century; No Pre-screening Call Needed

Walk-up COVID-19 testing will be available next week in Century.
Community Health Northwest Florida will conduct the testing on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 440 East Hecker Road. There is no pre-screening required.
The testing is available for Escambia County, Florida, residents only.
The walk-up testing is intended for residents of Century and the surrounding area 18 and older who are symptomatic, or for other reasons feel the need to be tested for coronavirus (COVID-19). Test kit quantities are limited.
According to Community Health:
- The tests are no-cost to the individual. If you have health insurance, your insurance will cover cost If you do not have insurance. If you do not have insurance, you can still be tested free of charge.
- Testing is not a doctor visit. You will not receive a medical examination. Community Health will only be collecting a specimen to send to a lab for processing, and then you will be free to go.
- Once your test is complete, is it critical that you go home and self-isolate, wear a face covering and keep way from other people (including family members) to the best of your ability until results are known.
- Community Health will call to share test results when they are available along with instructions on what to do next. They should have a good working contact number for you. They will not leave test result information on a voicemail message.

Three New COVID-19 Deaths Reported In Escambia, Santa Rosa

Three more COVID-19 deaths were reported Friday in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in the latest data release from the Florida Department of Health.
There were two deaths in Escambia County — a 90-year old female and a 93-year old male. Both were long-term care facility residents with no travel history but with contact with a known patient.
In Santa Rosa County, a 71-year old male wit not travel history and contact with positive case died.
Of the 18 deaths in Escambia County, 13 were long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.
A two new cases were reported in Escambia County Friday for a total of 618 positive people. The Santa Rosa County total increase by two to 162.
Statewide, there were 39,199 cases including 38,172 Florida residents. There have been 6,929 hospitalizations and 1,669 deaths.

Another COVID-19 Death Reported In Escambia County

A 16th COVID-19 death was reported Thursday in Escambia County in the latest data release from the Florida Department of Health.
The death was an 90-year old male with no travel history that had contact with a known patient.
Of the 16 deaths in Escambia County, 11 were long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.
A dozen new cases were reported in Escambia County Wednesday for a total of 616 positive people. The Santa Rosa County total increase by just two to 160.
Statewide, there were 38,828 cases including 37,813 Florida residents. There have been 6,765 hospitalizations and 1,600 deaths.

National Day Of Prayer Event Thursday At Olive Baptist Church, With 15 Acres Of Social Distancing

Olive Baptist Church will host a National Day of Prayer event Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Multiple small tents are setup across the sports complex located at 1836 East Olive Road for people to come and pray. At noon, Pastor Ted Traylor will bring a prayer and a worded of encouragement on WEGS 91.7 FM.
- Prayer will focus on four topics:
- Healing for the nations
- Government leaders
- Health workers, first responders and teachers
- Church and community
The community is invited to the prayer event, which is being held on a 15-acre site for maximum social distancing. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stand.
Red Flag Warning In Effect. That Means No Outdoor Burning

There is a red flag warning in effect today, meaning outdoor burning should be avoided.
Low relative humidity, gusty winds, low fuel moisture, and ongoing drought conditions are expected for the entire North Escambia area today.
Adding to the fire weather concerns are the windy conditions expected this afternoon. Winds will gust to around 30 mph at times.
No burn authorizations will be issued today by the Florida Forest Service in Escambia, Santa Rosa or Okaloosa counties because of increased wind and reduced humidity.
15th COVID-19 Death In Escambia County As Cases Top 600

A 15th person has died from COVID-19 as the number of cases topped 600 Escambia County, according to the Wednesday report from the Florida Department of Health.
The death was an 82-year old male long-term care facility resident with no travel history that had contact with a known patient.
Of the 15 deaths in Escambia County, 11 were long-term care facility residents. There have been eight deaths in Santa Rosa County, all outside long-term care facilities.
Six new cases were reported in Escambia County Wednesday for a total of 604 positive people. The Santa Rosa County total has been unchanged for two days at 158.
Statewide, there were 38,002 cases including 37,020 Florida residents. There have been 6,557 hospitalizations and 1,539 deaths.
