Tropical Storm Isaias Forms, Expected To Rapidly Strengthen

Tropical Storm Isaias formed in the Gulf early Wednesday morning and is expected to rapidly strengthen over the next couple of days. Isaias is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday.
The tropical storm is moving toward slowly to the east and a turn to the northeast is anticipated. On the forecast track, the system is expected to pass to the north of the Yucatan Peninsula on Thursday, and approach the U.S. northern Gulf Coast on Friday. Landfall is expected as a hurricane, and it is expected to bring heavy rainfall.
Escambia County is currently in the forecast “cone”.
