Aggie Nation Rallies For ‘MyMy’ Padgett As Heart Surgery Declared A Success
June 10, 2026
As Tate High School softball and the Aggie Nation community stepped up to the plate to support one of their own, some of the best possible news arrived from Orlando: Mykamia “MyMy” Padgett’s heart surgery was a success.
Padgett is now in the recovery phase and is expected to spend the next week in Orlando under specialized care before she is cleared to make the journey back home.
The positive update set a meaningful backdrop for an emotional and impactful Tuesday evening at the ballpark. While the Tate Lady Aggies opened their Summer Ball season on the field, the focus of everyone in attendance extended far beyond the scoreboard.
All concession proceeds from the evening’s three-game slate—featuring matchups between Tate, West Florida, and Northview—were dedicated to helping Padgett and her family with the immense travel and medical expenses associated with her treatment. Pizza for Tuesday night’s event were donated by Johnny Brusco’s New York Style Pizza on West Nine Mile Road.

The community showed out, transforming a standard summer opener into a powerful rally of love, prayer, and financial support for the incoming Tate senior and Alabama State University commit.
The open-heart surgery in Orlando was scheduled to correct a heart condition that was discovered after Padgett unexpectedly passed out following an intense game mid-season.
Before heading into the operating room on Tuesday, Padgett expressed how overwhelming the sudden diagnosis had been for her as an athlete, but noted that her strength came from a higher place.
“More than anything, I’m putting my faith in God, trusting that He will give me strength to get through this like He has every other challenge in my life,” Padgett said.
With the surgery successfully behind her, the long road to recovery begins. But as Tuesday evening proved, Aggie Nation and the entire North Escambia community will be standing right by her side every step of the way.

See A Wild Turkey? FWC Wants You To Report The Sighting
June 9, 2026
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is asking Florida residents and visitors to report all sightings of wild turkeys between now and Aug. 31. This includes hens, poults (newly hatched wild turkeys) and gobblers.
Florida’s annual summer wild turkey survey is part of a broader multi-state initiative aimed at better understanding the reproductive success and abundance of wild turkeys. This survey helps determine wild turkey nesting success, poult survival, and population distribution and abundance, which is crucial information that FWC biologists need to manage and sustain healthy wild turkey populations for years to come.
Wild turkeys are abundant in Florida and are found throughout the state, and nests typically begin to hatch in late spring and continue into the summer. However, nesting success can vary each year based on several factors, including weather conditions, predation and habitat quality. Fluctuations in nesting success and poult survival can strongly influence wild turkey populations. By reporting wild turkey sightings, Floridians and visitors can help biologists estimate population metrics at statewide and regional levels.

Championships And All-Stars Wins Highlight Century Youth Ball Weekend
June 8, 2026
The Century Baseball Association brought home several tournament wins over the weekend.
In baseball action, the 8U and 10U teams competed in the USSSA Region 11 All-Star tournament. Severe weather disrupted play, ultimately preventing the teams from finishing their championship games or taking post-game photographs. Tournament officials determined the final standings based on tournament seeding.
Because both Century teams held the number one seed when play was halted, the Burkett 8U squad was named the Gold Bracket Champions, and the Smith/Little 10U squad earned the Silver Bracket Championship. Both teams have advanced to the state tournament in Oxford, Alabama.
The association’s softball divisions also completed their All-Star tournament runs over the weekend.
The 8U softball team finished in third place. A highlight of their tournament included an over-the-fence, walk-off grand slam hit by Kenzie Burkett to secure a victory.
The 10U softball team earned a second-place finish, while the 16U baseball team placed third in the competitive “A” bracket.

Blue Wahoos Fall 10-1 To Chattanooga In Series Finale
June 8, 2026
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts by a final score of 10-1 on Sunday afternoon.
A hot start by the Lookouts (31-26) in the first inning backed by dominant pitching from starter Jose Acuna (W, 4-4) left the home side unable to catch up. Tying his season high in innings pitched, Acuna delivered 7.0 stunning frames that saw three hits and one earned run allowed while fanning six Pensacola bats.
Though the Blue Wahoos (28-29) got one back in the fifth inning, seven unanswered runs spelled disaster in the series finale. Starter Luis Moreno (L, 1-3) suffered his third loss, allowing four earned runs to cross on four hits yet setting a season high in strikeouts, collecting eight.
Chattanooga evens the series with Pensacola at 6-6 on the season after the Blue Wahoos took the first series 4-2 at Erlander Park earlier this year. The Lookouts sit atop the North division of the Southern League, while the Blue Wahoos come in at third in the South division. They are 0.5 games back of Biloxi, and 2.5 games back of first place Montgomery.
The Lookouts jumped ahead early after a strong three-run first inning. Back-to-back sacrifice flies into deep left from Cade Hunter and Ruben Ibarra scored Carlos Jorge and Jay Allen II respectively, and a solo homer over right field from Cam Collier punctuated the 3-0 start for Chattanooga.
Pensacola got a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Connor Caskenette took home on a groundout by Cam Cannarella. The Lookouts answered immediately in the top of the sixth with a Julio Carreras sacrifice fly to score Ibarra, followed by a double from Pablo Aliendo to plate Collier and extend the lead to 5-1.
A five-run ninth inning for the Lookouts would shut down any hope for a late-game comeback, exacerbated by three hit batters and two errors in the field.
After an off day Monday, the Blue Wahoos begin a six-game road series against the Columbus Clingstones, Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, on Tuesday night.

Ignoffo Ignites Offense In 5-4 Blue Wahoos Win
June 7, 2026
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos beat the Chattanooga Lookouts by a final score of 5-4 on Saturday night. The Blue Wahoos seemed to stay one foot ahead of the Lookouts throughout the game, capitalizing on timely swings and stellar defense.
The Blue Wahoos (28-28) are back at .500 after snapping a three-game losing streak to the Lookouts (30-26) thanks to early and consistent bat pressure. Chattanooga still holds the 3-2 edge in the series, giving Pensacola an opportunity to tie it with tomorrow’s finale.
Ryan Ignoffo, playing his second straight game behind the dish, ignited the offense early with a scorching triple into deep right field to score two runs. The three-bagger was Ignoffo’s third of the season and the seventh of his four-year career.
Defensively, Ignoffo was a force to be reckoned with behind the plate. He threw out Chattanooga’s stolen bases leader Carlos Jorge at second base in the first inning and caught the swift-footed Jay Allen II in the sixth at the same bag.
Pensacola plated five runs on nine hits, drawing five walks. Including Ignoffo, four different Blue Wahoos recorded two hits each: Dillon Lewis posted a 2-for-3 night at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored, while Dylan Jasso reached in all four of his plate appearances, going 2-for-2 and drawing two walks while also scoring a run. Emaarion Boyd laid down two perfect bunts in his 2-for-3 performance and contributed a run.
The seemingly omnipresent glove of Allen wasn’t able to snag a two-out triple into right field from Ignoffo, and the previously-walked pair of Aiva Arquette and Lewis hustled home to give the Blue Wahoos an early lead.
Pensacola extended their lead in the fourth inning as a Juan Matheus sacrifice fly into deep center scored Jasso from third. Lewis later punched a single into shallow left field to send Boyd flying home from second base, giving the Wahoos their largest lead of the series at 4-0. Chattanooga starter Javier Rivera (L, 0-3) would exit after the damaging fourth and ultimately suffer the loss, having given up five hits, four runs and three walks.
The Lookouts got one back in the top of the fifth on a towering solo home run from Ruben Ibarra. They would tack on two more in the sixth on a two-RBI single by Allen, cutting the deficit down to a single run, 4-3.
It wouldn’t take long for the Blue Wahoos to respond however, as Lewis launched a triple to the warning track in center to kick off the bottom of the seventh. A Cristian Hernandez sacrifice liner into left gave Lewis space to tag up and take home to reinstate the two-run lead.
Chattanooga answered in the top of the eighth with a deep sacrifice fly into right from Allen to score Jorge, who touched home moments before the Blue Wahoos executed an inning-ending double play. The momentum wouldn’t carry over into the ninth though, as Pensacola reliever Jack Sellinger (S, 2) retired the side in order, punctuated by a strikeout on Ibarra that made Blue Wahoos Stadium erupt with cheer.
Pensacola’s Luis Palacios offered a strong start, holding the previously-potent Chattanooga offense to two hits while earning six strikeouts through 4.0 innings. Kade Bragg (W, 3-1) would walk away with the win, entering in the sixth and offering 2.0 innings of work that saw just one hit and walk allowed.
The Blue Wahoos wrap up their series against the Lookouts on Sunday afternoon.

Blue Wahoos Blanked 4-0 By Lookouts
June 6, 2026
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts by a final score of 4-0 on Friday night as hits came too few and far in-between to put runs on the board for the home side.
Lookouts starter Johnathan Harmon (W, 5-2) dominated with seven strong innings, relenting just two singles to the Blue Wahoos while striking out six. Pensacola’s Orlando Ortiz-Mayr (L, 0-2) put up his longest outing of the season, dealing six innings that saw six hits, three earned runs, a lone walk and five strikeouts.
With tonight’s loss, the Blue Wahoos (27-28) fell below the .500 mark for the first time since May 22. The Lookouts (29-25) improved to 3-1 in the series and have held Pensacola to just two total runs across the past three games.
Dillon Lewis, Cristian Hernández and Juan Matheus were the only Blue Wahoos to record a hit on the night, each being singles. It proved difficult for Pensacola to string together productive at-bats as the Lookouts defense turned three 6-4-3 double plays to prevent any buildup of momentum.
Back-to-back doubles put Chattanooga up in the second inning as Ruben Ibarra doubled home Ryan McCrystal with a liner down the third baseline. Ibarra raced home on a single into center by Cade Hunter in the following at-bat, giving the Lookouts the early 2-0 edge.
Chattanooga extended their lead in the fifth as a Jay Allen II single sent home Carlos Jorge. They’d add another in the top of the ninth with a Dominic Pitelli double into the corner of right field, scoring Zavier Warren to solidify the 4-0 shutout.
Pensacola relievers Holt Jones, Livan Reinoso and Colby Martin offered an inning of work each following Ortiz-Mayr’s exit after the sixth. In their combined three innings, the trio allowed two hits, a walk and one run.
