The Eagles struck first, leaning on strong net play and sharp serving to claim the opening set 25-21. Northview answered immediately in the second frame, pushing past regulation points in a wire-to-wire fight to edge Neal 26-24 and even the match.

W.S. Neal regained control in the third, stringing together late points to take a 25-20 win and put the host Chiefs on the brink of defeat. With their backs against the wall, Northview’s seniors set the tone in set four, sparking an aggressive 25-18 run to force a winner-take-all fifth frame.

The deciding set proved to be a fitting finale for the rivalry clash. Neither side led by more than two points as the teams traded side-outs down the stretch. Trailing late, the Lady Chiefs locked down defensively, coming up with crucial touches at the net and capitalizing on key Eagle errors to take the final frame 15-13 and send the home crowd into celebration.

In junior varsity action, Northview beat Neal 2-0.
