Cantonment Man Charged As ‘Super Speeder’ For 102 MPH On Highway 29

December 18, 2025

A 21-year-old Cantonment man was charged under Florida’s “super speeder” law after troopers say he was clocked at 102 mph in a 45 mph zone on Highway 29.

Andrew Thomas Heck was charged with operating a vehicle exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 mph.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was northbound on Highway 29 near Nine Mile Road when he met a red passenger vehicle that was traveling at 102 mph in the posted 45 mph zone, according to an FHP report. The trooper conducted a traffic stop just north of Nine Mile Road.

He was immediately placed under arrest. Heck, according to the report, told the trooper that he had “no reason to be going that fast.”

I love how some like to blame the parents. Give me a break, everyone acts like they are perfect and have NEVER made a bad decision. Yes it could have been this or that but it wasn’t. I’m pretty sure for someone that has never been in trouble before going to jail even for a short period will scare him straight!
There is only one that should be his judge and it surely isn’t anyone behind a keyboard!
All I can say is I hope he learns from this and makes better choices in his future!
Keep your head up kid this does not make you a bad person.

all of you people saying “throw away the key” and celebrating this man’s punishment and scolding him for what COULDA happened, need to chill for a second. I KNOW that there are ALOT of us [or our family members] that drove recklessly and got their car to VERY high speeds at times without realizing it right away. Especially in your EARLY TWENTIES!! Its WILDDDD to me how quickly so many of you can be to want to throw someone away over a MISTAKE. Fortunately everyone came out safely.

What about the ones driving drunk and their slap on the hand, with a tissue paper, penalty. We cannot punish someone to an extreme level and let the ones with more sever offenses, on multiple occasions, continue to be a burden on society and a threat to us all.

It’s not that you are doing 102mph, it’s where you are doing 102mph. Highway 29, one of the most dangerous roads in Escambia County from one end to the other plus you were driving in the area of 9 mile road. You are gambling with other people’s lives when it is not necessary. Please grow up.

Reading the consequences shows a first offense Up To 30 days in jail, Up To a $500 fine, but no licesne suspension. The first offense needs to include at least 90 day suspension PLUS some sort of educational requirement before reinstatement.

Hey “Mr Super Speeder” just a FYI for you.
If one of my grandchildren had been hit by you during your little joy ride.. believe me when I tell you.. you’d much rather spend time in jail than deal with me!!
Just plain stupid with NO respect for human life!!

Inexperienced young man don’t know how to get away with it! Everbodys buying cars that are sports cars, and everybody with a 300-1000 HP sports car has tried it out somewhere at sometime, and yes it is always illegal when they did it. Only the stupid young ones gets actually caught doing it. There are the right places and the wrong places to do it.

Take the car away!! And keep him jail for 30 days for starters, and then put him on probation along with a lengthy driver’s training program.

When civil blurs into criminal arrested for speeding. Not an extremely high fine and drivers license suspension?

  20. Whisperjet on December 18th, 2025 7:38 am

A true kamakazee on US29…I hope he is still in jail…

  21. bob c. on December 18th, 2025 6:25 am

Seems these folks vehicles should be siezed by the LEO and held for sale at auction.
Obviously this driver has no understanding of what speed limit means, nor does he have any consideration for the lives of others.

  22. anne on December 18th, 2025 3:57 am

This shows how much laws matter to him. At 21 yrs he should understand the reason for speed limits. The penalties for this offence are not enough. I’m starting to think that some people do not sense speed.
