Evelyn Kleinschmidt Cook

Evelyn Kleinschmidt Cook, age 71 of Beulah FL sadly passed away on May 20, 2025.

She was born Evelyn Elizabeth Martin on December 21,1953 in Pensacola, Florida. Growing up, her family always called her Lynn. Lynn was adopted as a young child, by her mother’s husband, Edgar Kleinschmidt. She was also fondly known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren.

Lynn spent her career with Escambia County. She began her career working with the School Board. Lynn then moved to the Escambia County Road Department, where she worked in various positions. She retired as Mosquito Control Supervisor in 2018.

Lynn grew up in Beulah. She attended Pensacola Christian Elementary School, Bellview Jr High School and graduated from J.M. Tate’s DCT program with administrative assistant skills in 1971. Lynn is a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Beulah. Her early interests included horses, country music and sewing. She is a tribe member of The Lower Muscogee Creek Tribe, Creek Nation, Indian Territory, and is known as Little Fawn. She learned to bead and created lovely Indian Beading. She also enjoyed the beach and just riding and looking at the water.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Voncile Mayo Kleinschmidt; and her grandson, Lucas Edgar Wingard.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Hillery H. Cook Jr. (Butch); daughter, Tiffany Cook Hartley (Chad); father, Edgar Kleinschmidt; sister, Toni Jerkins (Johnny); grandson, David Wingard (Hailey); granddaughter, Londyn Shyanne Hartley; five great granddaughters, Aaliyah Jean, Adelynn Marie, Kinsleigh Brai, Berkleigh Mai, and Mckenna Layne; niece, Shellie Gruenwald (Stephen); nephew, Daryle Jerkins (Dannie); great nephews, Donnie Dixion and James Gruenwald; and a great niece, Hannah Jerkins.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Beulah located at 5805 Beulah Church Rd, Pensacola, FL 32526.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to The American Lung Association.
