Final Beulah Fire Station Crew Returns From Hurricane Ian Recovery Mission

The final Escambia County Fire Rescue crews assisting with Hurricane Ian recovery have returned from South Florida.
Lt. Keith Chapman and firefighter Kenny Fehl made it home safely with Tanker 2 from the Beulah Fire Station, ending the mission that was requested by the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Crews assisted in clearing roads, tarping houses, water supply and day-to-day operations for the communities affected by Hurricane Ian.

Free Beans And Rice Giveaway Saturday In Cantonment

St. Monica’s Episcopal Church is continuing its food ministry with a free beans and rice giveaway this Saturday.
On the last Saturday of every month, St. Monica’s gives away dried beans and white rice to anyone in need from 9-11 a.m., or while supplies last. Other non-perishable food items are included when available. There is no paperwork required.
St. Monica’s is located at 699 South Highway 95A, just north of Faith Chapel Funeral Home.
FDLE Arrests Former Doctor For Registered Sex Offender Probation Violation

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested a registered sex offender, who is a former doctor, for a probation violation Tuesday in Escambia County.
Brian Mitchell Lee, 52, was booked into the Escambia County.
In 2014, FDLE and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lee, then a medical physician practicing in the Pensacola area, for traveling to meet a minor to commit an unlawful sexual offense and using a two-way device to facilitate a felony. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 10 years of probation, in addition to being required to register as a sexual offender.
An FDLE agent who worked the 2014 case recognized Lee recently in a Pensacola restaurant while off-duty and observed him using a computer. The agent called Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and, together with responding deputies, made contact with Lee, who refused to allow them to inspect his computer.
Following the encounter, agents consulted with the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) to check on the terms of Lee’s probation. Upon confirming that Lee was prohibited from using computers, the agent reported the observed violation to FDC.
Lee’s probation officer issued an affidavit for his direct arrest Tuesday and FDLE agents took Lee into custody.
Man Charged With Attempted Homicide After Shooting His Wife In Byrneville, ECSO Says

A woman was shot by her husband during a domestic dispute Tuesday morning in Byrneville, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Anthony Franklin, 60, has been charged with attempted homicide. He was booked into the Escambia County Jail without bond Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened just after 8 a.m. in the 1200 block of McBride Road, near Byrneville Road.
The Sheriff’s Office said Franklin got into an argument with his 52-year old wife. He went outside with a handgun, began shooting, and one of the bullets struck the woman, according to investigators.
She was airlifted to a Pensacola hospital by MedStar Air Care 2. An update on her condition was not available.
Escambia County EMS and the Century Station of Escambia County Fire Rescue also responded.

Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Anthony Pleasant Defines Success For The Northview Chiefs

The Northview Chiefs are motivated as they are just two games away from an undefeated season with their eyes set on state championship rings.
But there’s something about wearing that football uniform and holding two Super Bowl rings that provides extra motivation.
Two-time Super Bowl champion and Century native Anthony Pleasant spoke to the Chiefs Monday in Tommy Weaver Memorial Stadium in Bratt as they passed around his rings. Pleasant, a 1986 graduate of Century High School, played defense for the New England Patriots when they won two Super Bowls.
Pleasant told the Chiefs that it does not matter that they attend a small school and live in small towns. He said success in football — and life — is about a willingness to work hard and be dedicated.
“No matter what background you come from, from the suburbs, from the hood, wherever you come from,” he said, “didn’t have a dad, grew up in poverty, rich. At the end of the day, it’s how can we come together at one time to win a championship. That’s all that matters.”

“If you want to be successful in life, hang around with successful people,” he said.
But he was quick to caution the Chiefs about how they measure success.
Pleasant said he was deemed successful with two Super Bowl wins and a career in the NFL because he was on national TV and in the media for years.
But just as successful in life, he said, is a man like Anthony Robinson of Century who also present for Monday’s event.. We introduced you to Robinson last week as the Century Blackcats youth football program is looking to provide their players with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education during the off season.
“He was an electrical engineer,” Pleasant said about Robinson. “He’s also from Century, but he’s successful. You see me being successful because of what the media puts out there, but you don’t see what he’s doing.”
“He made it; well then we all can make again. Again, what I just do for a living is glorified is because you see me on national TV. But this man right here he coached a little league football; what they don’t see is that that he’s preparing those young kids to play for the coach right here to make this job easier,” he added, pointing to Northview head coach Wes Summerford.
“So, no matter what you do in life, you are doing something positive, no one may not see it but you may not get the attention but you are also successful because you’re doing something positive to give back to the community. It’s now you’re making a difference.”

Molino Woman Charged With DUI After Highway 29 Wreck

A Molino woman was booked into the Escambia County Jail following single vehicle wreck in Cantonment Monday afternoon.
Myrtice Webb Domijan, 51, was charged with DUI by the Florida Highway Patrol, according to jail records.
Domijan allegedly lost control and ran off Highway 29 near Cooley Road about 4:45 p.m. Her SUV crashed into small brush.
She was released on a $500 bond.

Driver Crashes Into Utility Pole On 10 Mile Road

A driver crashed into a utility pole Monday night.
It happened on East 10 Mile Road near North Palafox Street about 7 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating and has not released additional details.
The Ensley Station of Escambia Fire Rescue, Escambia County EMS and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded .

Fields of Faith: Community Worship Service Wednesday Night At Northview

Northview High School’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host their annual Fields of Faith at Northview High School Wednesday night at 6:30 in Tommy Weaver Memorial Stadium.
Admission is free; the public is encouraged to attend.
Fields of Faith is a national student-led initiative. “Students invite, pray for, share with, and challenge their peers to read the Bible and follow Jesus Christ. An athletic field provides a neutral, rally point where a community can come together,” according to national organizers.
