One Arrest In ‘Flomo Klown’ Case; More Arrests Forthcoming

September 16, 2016

UPDATE 2:45 pm Friday:

Makayla Smith, 22 of Pecan Leaf Lane in Flomaton, has been charged with making a terroristic threat in the Flomo Klown case.  Three additional juvenile arrests are expected. Two of the juveniles are from Alabama, and one is from Florida. None of the suspects had affiliation or were currently attending the public school system, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Charges are pending in the case and the juveniles remain in the custody of their parents but will be turned over to the juvenile authorities at a later time once official charges are filed, which will be in the immediate future. The Sheriff’s Office will release further information after the district attorney and juvenile authorities determine what charges will be filed.

UPDATE 1p.m. Friday:

Four suspects have been identified in the Flomo Klown case that locked down several schools Thursday, but there have been no arrests as of just before 1 p.m. Friday, according to Escambia County (AL) Chief Deputy Mike Lambert.

Lambert said his department is awaiting a judge’s signature on the warrants before any arrests can be made.

The suspects are three juveniles and one adult, all from Flomaton except for one juvenile that is from Pensacola.

Further details will be posted as they become available.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Multiple Escambia County, AL, schools were on lockdown Thursday  morning due to the report possible violence from clown.

A Facebook page entitled “Flomo Klowns” that featured scary clowns with blood and other gore prompted the lockdown at Flomaton High School, Flomaton Middle School and Flomaton Elementary (all located on the same campus), Huxford Elementary north of Atmore, Escambia Academy near Atmore and a partial lockdownEscambia County High School in Atmore.

In addition, a threatening phone call was received at Huxford Elementary, said Mike Lambert, chief deputy with the Escambia County (AL) Sheriff’s Office.

All schools are off lockdown and all students are reported to be safe.

The Flomo Klowns Facebook page said that they are from Flomaton and contained statements such as “I kill people for a living” and a Thursday post that stated “It’s going down tonight”.

The situation was taken “very seriously”, Lambert said.

The FBI has been called to assist in the investigation.

This is actually freaky some people are saying it’s real they seen the clowns and some say it’s all fake. TBH all this clown stuff is so annoying.People need to grow up. It’s not Halloween yet you know.

I think the juvenile should get jail time to not just slap on wrist. Because they after under age you the the crime do the time no matter how old you are all these kids will get is probation. These parents lost money that they needed because they had leave work to go get there children from school because some idiots wanted to play games…

    Children sometimes do stupid things.
By the way, I’ve decided to consider children anyone under 30, am considering raising the number to 40.

    David for better children

  4. Willis on September 17th, 2016 10:52 pm

While I am sure some kids were scared by this I certainly see how some others were responding to it on the post.
What scares me is how some on here seem to have never been scared for their children’s safety until this.
I for one believe there is far worse things out there than some stupid clowns on Facebook.

Idiot kids. They just don’t have any idea. The 22-year-old looks like an idiot I’m sure her mom and dad are proud . The first thing someone wants to do is Sue when their child gets shot for being stupid. she should be tied up and whipped with a bullwhip just like little bill whipped Ned. I guarantee she would never do that again

  7. Ashley on September 17th, 2016 10:46 am

Ive visited these facebooks just to see what its all about and these comments on the klown pages are ridiculous! These kids are saying what school and where to come! Parents please monitor what your children are posting! I’m ready to start homeschooling my children!

  8. Truth teller on September 17th, 2016 9:22 am

They threatened a friend of mine and there is no excuse for any of this childish stupidity, there are babies and toddlers now scared of clowns because stupid people think this kind of a joke is funny!!!! It isn’t funny when your children are so frightened to go outside and play, it’s ridiculous! Now that they’re caught people say they’ll learn their lesson but I don’t think so, if they are sick minded clown freaks like this they will probably stay sick minded freaks!!!! I hope these charges that are being made are worth seeing them go to jail for!!!! No KID or anyone should be scared to walk out of their house!!!

The country is full of monsters. They start from the top and get alot of TV time. We need mandatory mental health screening just like hearing vision, school physicals, employment. …. presidential police, etc….

These funny characters should be put into the general population and the inmates told that they are having fun scaring little kids.
When lights out comes make sure they’re comfy and happy in their cots and turn off the lights and walk away.
Have a Good Night’s rest, Clowns.

This is a prime example of how so many young people refuse to grow up. Social media has ruined most in to believing that every minute of your day has got to be filled with nonsense. When you turn 18 you need to face the fact that your an adult and need to start acting like one. Maybe you’ll have time to think about that in a cell.

  14. molinoman on September 16th, 2016 5:40 pm

Look who the clown is now. I can partly understand this coming from children, but an adult participating in this… for shame and shame on you for influencing kids to take part in this latest and potentially dangerous internet fad. I hope you are enjoying you 15 minutes of fame er shame. With your new found fame enjoy your stay in one of the counties finest hotels, county lockup. Just where an internet sensation like you belongs. You should spend your community service dressing up as a clown and handing out ice cream to children’s burn centers and cancer hospitals and see how a humble and noble clown really behaves. Again, shame on you.

  15. Thank God on September 16th, 2016 4:38 pm

Glad they got caught Hope they learn a lesson be glad when there pictures show up. They need God in there lives. They probably thought it was funny unit they got caught. Now they are not laughing I don’t guess. Thank God no one got hurt.

Everyone is flipping out about this Flomo Klown so I wanted to share this tip. If he comes for you just give him a pie, a bottle of seltzer water, and 3 bowling pins and his clown instincts will kick in and he will put on a show for you. I use the same technique on my wife when she is mad, but I give her sandwich making materials instead and immediately, I have lunch. :) They cannot fight instincts and it works every time. Everyone is welcome for this potentially life saving (or marriage saving) tip. If anyone is interested I am now selling “murderous clown distraction kits” for 69.95 + S&H.

  18. Trying to understand on September 16th, 2016 3:33 pm

Maybe I’m missing it somewhere but from seeing the images that are posted from their Facebook page, I have not seen where they threatened anyone at a school. Can anyone enlightenmen me on where it is?

  19. Crystal on September 16th, 2016 3:24 pm

I think this whole clown thing is ridiculous and got way out of hand! This crap is NOT funny and these “clowns” need to be thankful they get a slap on the wrist instead of being put 6 foot under. With Halloween being a few weeks away bothers me; it could give these creeps ideas and easily blend in. I also think the law enforcement should make sure NO ONE dresses up like a clown for Halloween and they should remind people everyday on the news that if they do dress up like a clown, be prepared for jail or even worse. How is anyone suppose to know if someone in a clown suit is harmful or not after all this ignorant mess?!

  20. Samuel Stewart on September 16th, 2016 2:32 pm

Good job to law enforcement for not letting this stuff just go relaxed gets those warrant and go get those low life trashy people

  21. Tammy Renee on September 16th, 2016 2:13 pm

This is so ridiculous its actually funny. 3 juveniles and 1 adult who obviously didn’t get enough love and attention from mommy and daddy growing up that they have to seek attention anyway they can. Can we say PATHETIC? Lol

  22. Shan on September 16th, 2016 2:03 pm

I am the mother of a 4 year old who had to wait in the bathroom with the other 18 classmates until it was safe to come out. I figured this was some very poorly raised teenagers, but an adult too!!!! Where they are sending you, they are going to make a clown out of you alright! Along with some other things I cant mention on here. You deserve everything you have coming to you! Congratulations on your new journey to the Big House!!! I’m sure they will teach you some new magic tricks while you are there for your visit! You never mess with anyone’s kids!!!!! You will now learn this the hard way!!!!

I just saw something on pintrest this past week about these creepy clowns popping up in random towns across america. People were saying that they are worried they are going to harm children and some were saying it was some type of publicity stun for a movie that is coming out. Either way, Dressing up as a clown and scaring people is horrible. I have a little girl and I hate that this is the world she will have to grow up in. I hope this nonsense is stopped quickly. When i read the articles last week i thought that’s a horribly nasty thing to do to people and now here it is so close to home. I hope the FBI and LEO can track down these sickos.

  27. Ar Momma of 3 on September 16th, 2016 11:09 am

Look…this has gotta WAY outta control. The person/persons who are doing this are sick and twisted, and it’s sad to say, but when they find u…and they will find u, it’s gonna end so badly. I’ve seen similar pranks end in sucide by cop (means that u didn’t kill urself, u forced police to take u down) and not only does it ruin the persons family’s life, but that cop will forever see ur face when he/she closes his/her eyes. Years of therapy will be needed for all parties involved. Not to mention all the poor little children forever scared. I strongly advise u turn urself in before it gets even more out of control. Seriously. Don’t be ignorant. Make this wrong right. #Praying

This will escalate to the point where someone (clown) gets shot and killed. People don’t know when to back down. Mark my words. It’s a matter of time.

  31. Molino Mom on September 16th, 2016 7:50 am

This is so beyond crazy! Anyone who would do this as a prank or otherwise is just sick. What is wrong with you? ARe you enjoying the media attention? Was that what you were after? As stupid as you seem, I’m sure you are spouting your mouth off to someone-so it’s just a metter of time before we all find out who you are. Are you going to be happy then having your REAL face plastered all over the media for all to see? You think your family is going to be proud of you?
I’m hoping this is a juvenile prank, but the way this world is now-this could be some mass murderer or pedofile who is serious in his threats. You can never be too sure anymore. I’m happy that the school took the threat seriously and went on lockdown to protect the children. For the very few on here who are commenting on what a joke it is and don’t take it so seriously…..IF this was a true threat and this idiot went through with his threat, would you still feel the same way? Innocent children are the target here (whether the act was carried out or not). You NEVER threaten children! I don’t know of one parent that wouldn’t fight to the death for their child/children…I hope this doesn’t end in a tragedy-of any kind.

I am praying for the children in these schools and the staff. Today is a good day for the children and youth of these schools to come together and pray, whether before school lunch wherever whenever…..but together. I urge the parents to pray I urge the staff to pray I urge the children to pray I urge the community to pray. I am praying for a youth in each of these schools with a heart like Daniel who will lead his fellow students in a day of prayer..Christians young and old can be United in prayer putting on the full armor of God overcoming evil with Good.

  35. Paige Hassebrock on September 16th, 2016 3:36 am

@Chase you are really that immature to not care if a highschool is threatened along with a middle along elementary. Do you not recall the countless school shootings. I go to Northview Highschool.walking down the halls people are terrified. Do you not recall countless school shootings plastered on the news. I still recall the Sandy Hook school shootings. You may not be a parent neither am I ,but seeing the face of a mother in traffic with tears streaming down her face is enough to make me lose sleep over it. Everyone has lost someone and it’s not a laughing matter. Which you didnt say it was ,but even if you do “miss the 90s” who doesnt. It’s not the 90s anymore it’s time to realize the the new generation which I am a part of is not mature. I mature enough to know that Northview and other Highschools are taking precautions to make sure we are safe and have all the law enforcement we need on campus is not worried. But some people who are not “stupid” or “immature” have genuine concern over this. I’m not trying to come of rude. But I wanted to explain what we are going through.

  39. Faith.M on September 15th, 2016 10:40 pm

as a student at northview who was almost put on lock down this is scary everyone was jumpy today, at lunch we were constantly looking over our shoulders and when some one would knock on the class door we all jumped not knowing if it was them i’m scared to sleep to night for fear that they will be there to kill me when I wake up we need to catch them fast before something bad happens

  40. molinoman on September 15th, 2016 8:43 pm

@Chase Having fun is one thing, calling a school threatening people is another story.

@Phil It’s never a “waste” of resources to protect our children.

Both of you need a reality check and anyone else thinking this is all just fun and games. When they track this Bozo the Klowns IP and catch them we’ll see who the real clown is. Probably some wanna-be ICP Juggalo loser.

  41. The old man on September 15th, 2016 7:39 pm

Messing with people’s kids /lives is really dumb.
Parents will not be level headed if you threaten their kids.
I know that if you were to do that to my kids or grand children, I would become very very uncontrollable.
Whoever is doing or has done this needs to be put away and forgotten about.

  42. Smh on September 15th, 2016 7:19 pm

@Phil… Seriously? Are you that big of an idiot? This was our kids lives! Thank you to our law enforcementz

  43. Kay mccormick on September 15th, 2016 6:39 pm

I think this is a group of sick and twisted people coming for our kids. We need to protect and watch our kids very close. The world is full of evil like this and we as parents have to protect the babies. I hope FBI nails them and throws away the key

  44. Mary Blair on September 15th, 2016 6:10 pm

This is absolutely no laughing fun matter. I have the deepest sympathy, compassion, & understanding for anyone, BUT, when the action of a freak who obviously doesn’t care how his actions affect another, keeps me from getting to my child, keeps me from wrapping my arms around my child, I lose all of that sympathy & compassion. Whomever is behind this is an extremely disturbed person or persons, & I pray you get caught & get the psychiatric help tat you obviously need.

  45. chase on September 15th, 2016 5:39 pm

Its not that big of a deal. Everyone needs to stop being up in arms. Its just some kids having fun. Let them. WA thus worth shutting schools down??? Do any of u really think ur kids were at risk???? Goes I miss the 90’s

  46. Jennifer berke on September 15th, 2016 5:18 pm

  47. Joe on September 15th, 2016 5:13 pm

Doesn’t sound like this/these clowns are very smart. Joke/Pranks like this will get a clown shot or worse. If my child has to go to school in fear. Then I think a clown should feel the same kind of fear. Think twice Flomo, you never know when someone is looking threw a scope at you.

  48. Molino on September 15th, 2016 4:34 pm

    What in the world?

Is this an early Halloween Prank? Certainly, the Facebook page IP address can be traced back to the page owner. But, really if no one is sure…NOT FUNNY. Adults or kids dressed as clowns on the page???

  49. Sonya on September 15th, 2016 4:20 pm

As a parent to two of the children in lockdown today, I don’t care if it was a nonsense prank or the real deal these sick individuals need to have their butts beat and locked up. These children at school were scared, the parents were scared. Anyone who thinks this is funny or a joke need mental help. Anyone who accepted this fb request or commented on the post made need to be investigated too. Phil a complete waste of resources are you kidding me? Obviously your children was not at this school.

  50. Charlotte on September 15th, 2016 4:11 pm

This is nothing to be joking about! The Klowns are real and have been seen I think it was Pensacola. If they are coming our way our children need to be protected and law enforcement needs to catch them. But if some of our kids are doing this as a joke I hope the law catches them and the parents take them in front of the whole town and put a Butt whipping on them like they never had! Especially small children are scared of clowns anyway and have been hearing about them on TV and seeing about it on Facebook. I Pray this is not the real ones! But if some kids out there are making a joke of this it is not funny and someone could get seriously hurt!

  51. Phil on September 15th, 2016 3:59 pm
