T.C. Venom’s Home Opener Is Saturday Night In Century

The new T.C. Venom minor league football team will open home play this Saturday night in Century against the Birmingham Steel City Raptors.
The game will kickoff at 7 p.m. at Anthony Pleasant Park. Admission is $10 with kids 12 and under admitted free.
The Venom will play three additional homes games in Century as the newest team in the Amateur to Professional Development Football League, the AFDFL:
Sat Mar 30 — Crescent City Kings — Century, 7 p.m.
Sat Apr 6 — Greater Pensacola Jets — Century, 7 p.m.
Sat May 11 — Florida Phoenix — Century, TBD
The APDFL is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion and advancement of adult minor league football teams throughout the Southeast, according to their website. Players are between the ages of 18 and 30 looking to obtain a second chance of reaching their college or professional football dreams. The APDFL provides these athletes a place to improve their football skills and a platform to showcase their talents by attracting scouts from the collegiate and professional levels.
Tate Opens With Aggie Classic Win; Miller Tops Northview; Pine Forest Over Baker

The Tate Aggies beat Nolensville (TN) Monday 6-3 on day one of the Aggie Classic.
Jordan Jarman earned the victory on the hill for Tate Aggies Varsity. He surrendered no uns on one hit over four innings, striking out three and recording no walks. Sam Shackle opened on the mound for Tate, giving up three run and one hit in two innings.
Mason Land led Tate at 3-4 at bat with two runs and three RBIs. Also for Tate: Hunter McLean 1-3; Raymond Lafleur 2-4; Chase Tolbert 1-3, R: Jadon Fryman 2-3, R; Trevor Norton 1-1, R, RBI.
The Aggies will face Washington (OK) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Tate High School.
In other games Monday (not part of the Aggie Classic):
T.R. Miller 7, Northview 6
T.R. Miller and the Northview Chiefs were tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday night when Miller scored on a single for the win.
Jacob Bryant opened the game for the Chiefs, giving up four runs on three hits two innings, striking out two. Nick Venable threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jackson Moore homered in the seventh inning as he went 1-4 with a run and two RBIs. Venable, Billy Rolin, Adam Aliff, Seth Killam, Bryant and Ben Wilson also had hits for the Chiefs.
Pine Forest 4, Baker 3
The Pine Forest Eagles beat the Baker Gators 4-3 Monday night.
Jared Riddell pitched the win for Pine Forest. He went two innings, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out one and walking none.
Timmy Williams, John Pinette, Nolan Rigby, and Josh Roberts each collected one hit to lead Pine Forest.
Strike Out Cancer Softball Raises $25K: WFHS Tops Tate, Tate’s Lundquist Throws Perfect JV Game

The real winner Friday night on Tate High School’s softball field was cancer research during the Aggies’ annual Strike Out Cancer game. At last word the game had raised about $25,000.
In varsity action, West Florida topped Tate 2-0. Avery Beauchanie, Amber Decoux and Shelby McClean had hits for the Lady Aggies. Beauchanie took the loss for Lady Aggies, surrendering two runs on five hits over six innings and striking out four.
In junior varsity play, Courtney Lundquist threw a perfect game Friday as the Tate Aggies beat West Florida 15-0 in four innings. She recorded seven strikeouts.
Lundquist and Courtney Adams had three hits for Tate, while Christina Mason, Ella Little and Alyssa Rowell had two hits. Kennedy Turner, Brianna Folmar, Aaliyah Jordon and Taylor Green each added a hit.

Two A Row: Northview Beats Freeport; Pine Forest Tops Escambia

Make that two district wins in a row over Freeport for Northview, as the Chiefs beat the Bulldogs Friday night 2-1 in Freeport. The Chiefs were coming off win over Freeport Thursday night in Bratt.
Seth Killam , Ben Wilson, Jacob Bryant , Taylor Wilson, and Nick Venable each had a hit for the Chiefs. Tanner Levis earned the win on the mound, lasting for seven innings and allowing nine hits, one run, no walkings and striking out three.
Pine Forest 4, Escambia 0
Jason Roberts tossed a complete game shutout Friday night as the Pine Forest Eagles beat the Escambia Gators 4-0. He allowed three hits and zero runs while striking out seven in seven innings.
John Pinette led Pine Forest Eagles Varsity with three hits in four at bats. The Eagles did not have a single error in the field.

Baseball: Tate Beats Catholic, Northview Bests Freeport; Softball: Northview Tops Freeport

The Tate Aggies beat Pensacola Catholic 7-1 Thursday night in a meeting of two of the most storied baseball teams in Florida.
Cole Fryman earned the victory on the mound for Tate Aggies Varsity. He allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Brantley Culbertson and Easton Sidner entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Darrien McDowell homered for the Aggies in the third and went 4-4 with two runs and a RBI. Also for Tate: Hunter McLean 1-3; Raymond Lafleur 1-4, R 2B; Chase Tolbert 2-3, RBI; Cole Fryman RBI; Jadon Fryman 2-4, 2RBI; Michael Potts RBI; Adam Nisewonger R; Aaron Noack R.
Thursday night was the first meeting in more than a decade for Tate and Catholic. Between the two schools, there have been two national championships, 10 state championships, 63 playoff appearances, 39 trips to the Final Four, and 180 state championship games.
Up next, it’s the Aggies Classic next week for Tate.
Northview 10, Freeport 1

The Northview Chiefs earned a big 10-1 win over the Freeport Bulldogs in a district game Thursday night.
Seth Killam pitched the win for the Chiefs, going for six and two-third innings, giving up four hits and one run while striking out 11 and walking zero. Nick Venable threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Venable recorded the last out to earn the save for the Chiefs.
For Northview: Adam Aliff 3-4, 2R, RBI; Nick Venable 3-4, 2R ,2B; Killam 2-3, 2R; Ben Wilson 1-3, R; Jackson Moore 2R; Taylor Wilson R; Jacob Bryant RBI.
Northview and Freeport will battle again Friday night at 6 p.m. in Freeport.
Escambia 4, Pine Forest 3
With a run in the bottom of the eighth, the Escambia Gators defeated the Pine Forest Eagles Thursday night 4-3.
Timmy Williams took the loss for Pine Forest Eagles Varsity. He allowed one hit and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and with no walks.
Christian Munoz and Jason Roberts had two hits apiece for the Eagles. John Pinette, Jaylen Bryant and Jared Riddell also had hits.
SOFTBALL
Northview 7, Freeport 1
Northview 12, Freeport 1
The Northview Chiefs varsity softball team beat Freeport 7-1 Thursday night in Freeport, while the Northview junior varsity team pounded Freeport 12-1.
In varsity action, Tori Herrington allowed three hits, walked two and had 13 strikeouts in seven innings.

Northview Second In District Weight Meet; 14 Lifters Advance To Regionals

The Northview boys weightlifting team finished 2nd overall in the District 1-1A weightlifting meet on Thursday afternoon at Baker. The Chiefs fell to the host Gators, while out-scoring West Florida, Jay, Pensacola Catholic, Pensacola High School and Rocky Bayou.
Individually, two Chiefs claimed district championships in their respective weight classes.
In the 219-lb. weight class, junior Jacob Hawkins claimed first with a 295-lb. bench press and a 245-lb. clean and jerk.
In the 129-lb. weight class, junior Trent Kite claimed first with a 230-lb. bench press and a 185-lb. clean and jerk.
Also placing for the Chiefs were:

154-lb. weight class: Jarius Moorer, 3rd

West Florida Softball Nabs Win Over FWB; Tate Aggie Freshmen Baseball Beats Pace

SOFTBALL
West Florida 15, Fort Walton Beach 5
Even though West Florida Jags Varsity gave up three runs in the fifth inning, they still defeated Fort Walton Beach 15-5 on Wednesday. Fort Walton Beach scored its runs on a double by Phillips.
In the first inning, West Florida Jags Varsity got their offense started when MacKenzee Mcbride doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
West Florida Jags Varsity tallied five runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Amanda Klemm, Makayla Kent, and Mcbride, a triple by Measia Armstrong, and by Meredith Morgan.
Morgan was credited with the victory for West Florida Jags Varsity. She went five innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out five.
Rockwell took the loss for Fort Walton Beach. She allowed 13 hits and 16 runs over four innings, striking out one.
West Florida Jags Varsity tallied 13 hits. MeAsia Armstrong, Makayla Kent, McKenzi Kent, and MacKenzee Mcbride all collected multiple hits for West Florida Jags Varsity. MacKenzee Mcbride, McKenzie Kent, Makayla Kent, and MeAsia Armstrong all had two hits to lead West Florida Jags Varsity.
West Florida Jags Varsity stole 17 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Kiauna Watson led the way with four.
BASEBALL
Tate 8, Pace 3
The freshmen Tate Aggies beat Pace 8-3 Wednesday night.
Josiah Glodfelter took the win for the Aggies on the mound. In four innings, he allowed on run, four hits and had seven strikeouts. Chase Lombardo and Tucker Griffin closed the game in relief.
Eleven Aggies had hits during the game, including two from Saxon Hill. With one hit each were: Dagan Guy, Paul Whitson, Jaxson Stafford, Cameron Larocca, Glodfelter, Caleb Murph, Luke Gandy, Conner Wright, Griffin and Lombardo. Whitson and Lombardo had doubles.

Tate Aggies Blank PHS; Clary Hits A Grand Slam, Tolbert Homers

The Tate High Aggies shut out Pensacola High Tuesday night 19-0 in five innings.
Tate’s Will Clary knocked a grand slam in the fifth inning, and Chase Tolbert hit a two-run homer in the fourth.

The Northview Chiefs defeated the Jay Royals 3-1 Tuesday in Jay.

Tori Herrington earned the win for Northview, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out eight in seven innings.
Valen Shelley led the Chiefs at the plate, going 3-3 with 2 RBIs. Also for Northview: Herrington 2-4; Aubree Love 1-4, R; Ashley Ragsdale 1-4.
The Northview Chiefs will be at Freeport on Thursday.
Navarre 4, Tate 1
The Tate High School Lady Aggies fell behind early and could not recover in a 4-1 loss to Navarre on Tuesday.
Navarre took a 2-0 lead in the first with a two-run homer.
Avery Beauchaine homered in the second inning. Hannah Halfacre and Ryleigh Cawby also had hits for Tate. Beauchaine took the loss for Lady Aggies. She surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.
The Aggies will be at Escambia on Thursday afternoon. The junior varsity plays at 4:30, and the varsity takes the field at 6:30.
