Escambia EMS Offering CPR And AED Classes

Escambia County EMS is offering CPR and AED classes to county residents.
The cost is $60 for the Heartsaver CPR AED Course and $75 for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Both include an ebook.
Both courses will take place at the Escambia County Public Safety building at 6575 North “W” Street in Pensacola.

The Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. The Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to give CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
The BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. The American Heart Association’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. This course, like Heartsaver CPR AED, reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

UPDATE: ECSO Locates Missing, Endangered 17-Year Old Last Seen On Old Chemstrand Road

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing and endangered 17-year old last seen about 7 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Old Chemstrand Road.
Evan Clay Searcy was wearing a white t-shirt, red and blue shorts and tan boat shoes. He is six-foot, two-inches tall, 268 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Updated: Escaped Convicted Murderer Captured

UPDATE; THIS ESCAPED INMATED HAS BEEN RECAPTURED.
The search is underway from a convicted murderer that escaped from the Mobile Community Based Facility on Sunday.
Tbe Alabama Department of Corrections said 31-year old Jeffery Strugg escaped about 5:35 p.m. Sunday from the facility located in Prichard.
Strugg was described as a black male, 5-feet 6-inches tall, and weighing 164 pounds.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency or the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825
He was serving a 29-year sentence for a 2009 murder in Dallas County, Alabama.

Sunday Afternoon Storms Dump Hail Across The Area, Down Tree In Molino

Storms dumped hail across parts of Escambia County Sunday afternoon and downed at least one tree across a North Escambia roadway.
The tree was downed on Highway 95A south of Highland Baptist Church, completely blocking the roadway.

Police Release Names, Details In Fiery Crash That Killed One, Injured Another Near Flomaton

The Flomaton Police Department has released more information on a fiery single vehicle crash that claimed one life early Friday morning and critically injured another.
The crash happened about 1:25 a.m. on Old Atmore Road about a quarter mile east of Tulip Road, just a few hundred feet north of the Alabama-Florida state line.
On Sunday, Flomaton Police said 21-year old Emily Taylor was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu that left the roadway, struck a tree, overturned and burst into flames.
Taylor was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash and airlifted to an area hospital. The passenger, 24-year old Jacob Maulden, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The Flomaton Police Department is continuing their investigation with assistance from Alabama State Troopers. No criminal charges have been filed at this time, but Flomaton Police Chief Charles Thompson said Sunday that the results of the investigation will be presented to the Escambia County (AL) District Attorney’s Office for review.
The Flomaton and Friendship fire stations, along with the Century Station of Escambia County Fire Rescue, and McMillan EMS also responded to the crash.

Northview Alumnus Graduates From Marion Military Institute As A Second Lieutenant

It’s EMS Week In Escambia County

It’s EMS Week in Escambia County, as declared in a proclamation by the county commission.
In 1974, President Gerald Ford established EMS Week to recognize the EMS personnel for the important work they do throughout our nation’s communities. This year, Escambia Countyis celebrating EMS Week May 15-21 with the theme, “EMS: Rising to the Challenge.”
The men and women of Escambia County EMS responded to 77,334 calls in 2021. As of Saturday, Escambia County EMS has responded to 23,874 calls so far in 2022. They provide critical care, advanced life support, basic life support, and bariatric transports to county residents and visitors.
“Our employees rise to the challenge each and every day,” said EMS Chief David Torsell III. “I cannot thank them or recognize them enough for their tremendous effort and service to our community.”
