Escambia, Santa Rosa COVID-19 Cases Increase By 11

The number of COVID-19 cases increased by 11 in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in the Friday morning report from the Florida Department of Health.
FDOH reported 197 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 181 are local residents. The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 103. Escambia County has had three fatalities, Santa Rosa two.
The number of coronavirus cases in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased to 22 in Escambia County. For the first time Thursday, Santa Rosa County reported an infection in a resident or staff of a long-term care facility.
Statewide, there were 17,531 cases including 17,018 Florida residents. There have been 2,360 hospitalizations and 390 deaths.

Growing Confidence In Severe Weather Possibility For Easter Sunday

There is an enhanced (level 3 of 5) risk of severe weather Sunday and Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service. Potential threats include strong long-track tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail.

Friday: Isolated showers before 1pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 68. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46. North wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 75. East wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Escambia, Santa Rosa COVID-19 Cases Up By 33 Total On Thursday

The number of COVID-19 cases increased by just three in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in the Thursday evening report from the Florida Department of Health.
FDOH reported 192 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 168 are local residents. The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 70. Escambia County has had three fatalities, Santa Rosa one.
The number of coronavirus cases in in residents or staff of long-term care facilities increased to 20 in Escambia County. For the first time Thursday, Santa Rosa County reported in infection in a resident of staff of a long-term care facility.
Statewide, there were 16,826 cases including 15,826 Florida residents. There have been 2298 hospitalizations and 371 deaths.

Five Walnut Hill Volunteer Firefighters, Two EMS Medics Quarantined After Contact With Suspected COVID-19 Patient

Seven Escambia County first responders are quarantined after responding to a medical call in Walnut Hill early Tuesday morning.
All are quarantined due to suspected COVID-19 exposure, according to Laura Coale, Escambia County spokesperson.
Five volunteer members of the Walnut Hill Station of Escambia County Fire Rescue and two Escambia County EMS crew members are all in self-quarantine at their respectives homes pending COVID-19 test results for the patient.
NorthEscambia.com has learned the patient was pronounced deceased shortly after the original medical call; a cause of death has not been released.
Coale said two EMS employees are also quarantined for non-work related reasons. There have been no positive cases of COVID-19 in any Escambia County EMS or Fire Rescue employee or volunteer, she said.

Forecasters Becoming More Concerned About Easter Sunday Severe Weather Threat

The National Weather Service said confidence is increasing in the potential for severe storms for Sunday and Sunday night.

Third COVID-19 Death In Escambia County, Total Cases Increase To 182

The Florida Department of Health has confirmed a third death in Escambia County due to COVID-19 in their Wednesday evening update.
The death was a 91-year old female with no travel history and no contact with a known case. Escambia County’s other deaths were a 78-year old male and a 75-year old female. There have been two fatalities in Santa Rosa County.
The number of coronavirus cases in in residents or staff of long-term care facilities in Escambia County more than doubled on Wednesday to 18, up from eight on Tuesday.
The Florida Department of Health reported 182 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 166 are local residents. The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 70.
Statewide, there were 15,698 cases including 15,234 Florida residents. There have been 2,082 hospitalizations and 323 deaths.

Search Underway For Missing, Endangered Woman Last Seen At West Florida Hospital

UPDATE: Louella Charlene Powell has been safely located, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are searching for a missing and endangered adult.
Escambia Search and Rescue was searching for 54-year old Louella Charlene Powell Wednesday afternoon in the area of University Parkway and Nine Mile Road.
She was last seen leaving West Florida Hospital on foot on April 7 about 5:30 p.m. She was wearing a long purple jacket, black capri pants and black shoes. She is 5′3″, 160 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, she may be in the need of medical attention.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the ECSO at (850) 436-9620.
Escambia COVID-19 Cases In Long-term Care Facilities Double; Overall Case Count Increases; Statewide Now More Than 300 Dead

The number of coronavirus cases in in residents or staff of long-term care facilities in Escambia County doubled on Wednesday to 16, as the overall number of cases increased by a dozen as Florida’s death toll surpassed 300.
There have been two deaths in Escambia County and two deaths in Santa Rosa County.
The Florida Department of Health reports 180 total COVID cases in Escambia County. Of those, 164 are local residents. The number of cases in Santa Rosa County increased to 69.
Statewide, there were 15,456 cases including 15,003 Florida residents. There have been 1,955 hospitalizations and 309 deaths.

Nine Mile Road To Be Reduced To One Lane At Navy Federal Overnight
April 8, 2020
Nine Mile Road will be reduced to one lane between Heritage Oak Drive and Navy Federal Way from 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 to 6 a.m. Thursday, April 9 as crews install traffic delineators. Traffic flaggers will be available to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
All construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather.
