Escambia COVID-19 Cases Increase By 484 Due To Increased Test Results

Escambia County had an increase of 484 new COVID-19 tests results reported on Sunday, as the the Florida Department of Health returned a record number of local test results. A record number of tests also led to a relatively large increase in Santa Rosa County.
Escambia County cases increased to 4,136 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 189 to 1,331.
Of the 4,162 test results returned on Saturday, 10% were positive in Escambia County and 10.7% were positive from 1,612 tests in Santa Rosa County as it appeared the Florida Department of Health cleared a backlog of test results. There were 4,679 test results with 632 positives for a rate of 13.5% in the five days prior in Escambia County.
As of Saturday, there were 156 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County.
Of the 53 deaths in Escambia County, 39 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 11 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.
Statewide, there were 269,811 cases including 266,119 Florida residents. There have been 18,271 hospitalizations* and 4,242 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

There were 177 new positive COVID-19 cases were reported Saturday in Escambia County and one additional Santa Rosa County death by the Florida Department of Health.
Escambia County cases increased to 3,662 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 57 to 1,142.
As of Friday morning, there were 137 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County.
Of the 1,079 test results returned on Friday, 13.5% were positive in Escambia County and 12.5% were positive from 435 tests in Santa Rosa County.
Of the 53 deaths in Escambia County, 39 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 11 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.
Statewide, there were 254,511 cases including 250,984 Florida residents. There have been 18,023 hospitalizations* and 4,197 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Another COVID-19 death and 153 new positive cases were reported in Escambia County Friday by the Florida Department of Health.
The Escambia County fatality was an 88-year old male that was not a long-term care facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased to 3,485 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 52 to 1,085.
As of Friday morning, there were 137 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County.
Of the 1,216 test results returned on Thursday, 10.8% were positive in Escambia County and 9% were positive from 524 tests in Santa Rosa County.
Of the 53 deaths in Escambia County, 38 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 10 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.

Pensacola Council To Discuss Confederate Monument, Lee Square. Here’s How To Provide Input.

On Tuesday July 14, 2020, the Pensacola City Council will hold a special meeting regarding the Confederate Monument located at Lee Square as well as the renaming of Lee Square.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with all public participation taking place remotely. The meeting will be live streamed at cityofpensacola.com/video.

Speak during the meeting: Those wishing to participate can access the request to speak form here at https://www.cityofpensacola.com/ccinput, submissions will be accepted from 12:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on July 14th . Those requesting to speak will then be called via the telephone number they provide; in the order the requests are received. You are asked to state your name and address for the record, and you will have two minutes to speak.

Another COVID-19 death and 144 new positive cases were reported in Escambia County Thursday by the Florida Department of Health.
The Escambia County fatality was an 85-year old male long-term care facility resident
Escambia County cases increased to 3,332 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 40 to 1,033.
On Thursday, there were 137 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County. As of today, we are now able to report the current number of hospitalized patients using data compiled daily by Escambia County and the City of Pensacola directly from the local hospitals.
Of the 598 test results returned on Wednesday, 17.4% were positive in Escambia County and 17.9% were positive from 170 tests in Santa Rosa County.
Of the 52 deaths in Escambia County, 38 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 10 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.
