Warm temperatures and mostly clear skies will be the theme for the start of the weekend, with highs in the low 90s. There’s a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday afternoon. A cold front moving in for Sunday will bring a better chance of rain and drop temperatures to the upper 80s for the start of next week.

Thursday Night Football: Tate Aggies Host PHS Tonight

September 4, 2025

The Tate Aggies will host the Pensacola High Tigers Thursday night.

The Aggies (2-0) are coming off a 48-13 win over Gulf Breeze last Friday night and a season opening 21-7 defeat of Fort Walton Beach. Meanwhile, PHS Tigers sit at 0-2 , outscored by a total of 70-6 by Pine Forest and Milton.

Last week, Tanner Clark rushed for 151 yards for the Aggies on just 15 carries, and quarterback Miles Delarosa threw for 140 yards and four touchdowns.

Thursday night is Senior Night for the Aggies with kickoff at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available on GoFan, and parking is $3 cash.

Mosquito Control To Spray Tonight In Cantonment, Cottage Hill, Molino, Quintette

Weather permitting, the Escambia County Mosquito Control Division will conduct fogging missions today, September 3, in portions of the Cantonment, Cottage Hill, Molino and Quinette areas.

Century To Consider $112K Employment Contract For Town Administrator Tonight

September 2, 2025

Tonight, the Century Town Council will consider a final employment contact with Dave Murzin of Cantonment as the town’s full-time administrator.

The two-year agreement includes a $112,000 annual salary with benefits. Funding for the position will be placed in the Town budget.

Murzin is currently the director of First Place Partners, representing economic development in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. He is a former two-term state representative. He has extensive experience in legislative leadership, economic development, and disaster recovery, having worked closely with local governments across Northwest Florida.

The town council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Century Town Hall and is open to the public.

Learn About Future Flood Mitigation Efforts And Planning At Escambia Meeting

September 1, 2025

Escambia County will host a public meeting this week to give residents a chance to learn more about future flood mitigation efforts and long-term adaptation planning.

Escambia County, in partnership with Jacobs Engineering, will hold the Adaptation Planning Project Wednesday, September 3 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Langley Bell 4-H Center, located at 3730 Stefani Road in Cantonment.

During the meeting, attendees will hear from Escambia County staff and representatives from Jacobs Engineering and APTIM on the countywide vulnerability assessment results, adaptation strategies, and project metrics and prioritization. Attendees will have the chance to provide feedback on the results and participate in a question-and-answer session at the end of the meeting.

Anyone unable to attend in person can sign up here to receive a Teams link to join the meeting virtually. A link will be sent out the day of the meeting.

The Adaptation Planning Project is an initiative aimed at safeguarding the unincorporated areas of Escambia County against environmental risks, including rising sea levels and flooding.
