Tate’s Strike Out Cancer Softball Game Is This Evening

The Tate High Aggies Softball team’s 12 Annual Strike Out Cancer Game against West Florida High will be played Friday evening.
All proceeds will benefit the local chapter of American Cancer Society
The junior varsity will play at 5 p.m., and the first pitch for varsity is set for 7 p.m. at Charlene Varnell Field at Tate High School.
Admission is donations only. Fish dinners will be available for $12 and gumbo for $6.
Last year, the Strike Out Cancer Game raised over $22,000.

Blue Jacket Jamboree Is Saturday In Molino

The Northview High School FFA Blue Jacket Jamboree is returning to Molino on Saturday, along with the Gulf Coast Agriculture & Natural Resources Youth Organization Annual Spring Livestock Show on both Friday and Saturday. The event was canceled the last two years due to COVID-19.
The Blue Jacket Jamboree is a free festival from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. that will feature dozens of arts and craft vendors, food vendors, a car show, kids’ activities, and much more. There will also be an Easter egg drop at noon with the Easter Bunny and about 2,000 eggs including a special section for preschoolers.
Admission and parking are free for both the Blue Jacket Jamboree and livestock show at the Escambia 4-H Livestock Facility located at 5701 Highway 99 in Molino.
All proceeds will benefit Northview High School FFA students and their scholarship fund.

After School Activities, Sports Canceled In Escambia And Santa Rosa (With Area Cancellation List)

The school districts in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties have canceled all after school activities today due to the threat of severe weather.
Escambia County has canceled all practices, games, and extracurricular activities after 5 p.m. Santa Rosa has canceled all evening practices, games, and extracurricular activities after 6 p.m.
School is still scheduled for Wednesday in both districts.
Here are some specific North Escambia area cancellations that were announced prior to the blanket countywide cancelations:

A potentially significant severe weather event is becoming increasingly likely across much of the region Tuesday through Tuesday night.All modes of severe weather will be possible: tornadoes (some may be strong), damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, and large hail up to golf ball size.
Along with the severe storm threat on Tuesday and Tuesday night will come a threat for heavy rain and potential for flash flooding as well. About 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is possible. Additionally, minor river flooding is expected, including the Escambia River.

Escambia County District 5 Commissioner Steven Barry will hold a town hall meeting Monday evening at the Langley Bell 4-H Center.
Residents of District 5 are invited and encouraged to attend the open forum event at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 21. County staff will be in attendance to address any additional questions or concerns from residents.
