Flash Flood Watch: Several Rounds Of Showers And Storms Through Saturday

Several rounds of showers and storms are expected through Saturday. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-5 inches are expected across the area with locally higher totals up to eight inches possible. A flash flood watch is in effect for the entire area thru Saturday afternoon.

There will also be the potential for strong to severe storms with damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado or two as the main threats.

The greatest risk for severe storms will be from mid-Friday afternoon thru mid-evening Friday.

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Authorities Seek Man Caught On Camera Taking $800 In Items From Highway 29 Business

Authorities are looking for a man that allegedly took over $800 worth of outdoor items from a local business.

The theft occurred about 7 a.m. at Antiques Marketplace at 10100 Pensacola Boulevard, just south of 10 Mile Road. Surveillance images shows the man taking items from outside the business and placing them into the backseat of a small car.

The Royals beat the Bozeman Bucks 6-3 tonight.

Jay Royals Advance To 1A State Championship Game

The Jay Royals beat the Lafayette Hornets 4-2 in the 1A state semifinal Wednesday.

.

Landon Golden pitches four Jay, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one. Jax Lowery was on the mound for three innings, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out four and walking none.

Wyatt Peaden was 2-3 with two runs, and Ethan McDonald was 2-3 with two runs. Hayden Morris, Landon Golden and Jax Lowery had one hit each for the Royals.

The Royals (18-10) will take on Bozeman (27-3) Thursday for the state 1A championship.

After sunny skies on Thursday, multiple rounds of severe storms and heavy rain will be possible Friday into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The possibility exists for heavy rain, flash flooding, damaging winds up to 6 mph, and  even a few tornadoes are possible.

Northview And Tate Spring Games Are Tonight

The Northview Chiefs will host Central in a spring game at 6 p.m Thursday at Tommey Weaver Memorial Stadium in Bratt. The game was scheduled for Friday but moved to Thursday due to weather.

The Tate Aggies will travel to Tommy Oliver Stadium at Bay High School in Panama City. Kick off is at 7 p.m.

Driver’s License, Tax Collector Services Available Thursday In Century

Driver’s license and other tax collector services will be available in Century on Thursday, May 16  from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Billy G. Ward Courthouse.

Mobile Licensing and Identification Office (MILO) is a fully functional tax collector office on wheels, offering a range of services. The mobile unit provides a convenient method to renew a driver license, obtain a replacement driver license, conversion/reciprocation of out-of-state license, change a name or address on a current driver license or identification card, and get a first-time identification card. In addition to licensing services, the mobile unit also provides an opportunity to renew or replace a vehicle registration, receive a parking placard, transfer a title, pay property taxes, and apply for a business tax receipt. Written and driving tests are not available from the MILO unit.

Escambia Schools Hope To Dismiss At Regular Time Today

May 13, 2024

Escambia County Public Schools will be dismissed at normal time Monday afternoon.

Superintendent Keith Leonard tells us that students are safely sheltered and indoors at all schools.

“We hope to dismiss as normal this afternoon,” Leonard said. “But some routes may be delayed. Student safety is at the forefront.”

If the weather is hazardous at dismissal time, bus routes will be delayed accordingly. Parents will be notified by callout.

All after school activities for Monday are canceled.
