Century Woman, A Convicted Felon, Charged With Selling Husband’s Guns For Divorce Money
April 10, 2026
A local woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly selling her husband’s firearm collection while he was out of town, despite being a convicted felon herself, to fund a divorce.
According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Deadria Jean Smith, 42, was arrested following an investigation into the missing weapons. Her husband told deputies he returned from South Florida to find that his wife had “pawned” his guns to acquaintances.
Witnesses told deputies that Smith was reportedly angry because she suspected her husband of seeing another woman and intended to use the money to pay for a divorce.
The investigation revealed that Smith allegedly sold a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle and a crossbow to a neighbor for $230. A relative tod deputies he later paid Smith $700 for remainder of the collection, about 15 additional guns, simply to keep them from being sold to strangers before the husband returned.
While Smith claimed she never physically touched the weapons to avoid violating her status as a felon, witness statements and game camera footage contradicted her account, according to an arrest report. Investigators said that Smith has a 2011 felony conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Smith was charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon. She was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

When you say someone is a slave to drugs, you are saying they are a slave. It’s easy to pity a slave but not to respect one.
When you say that the children are being embarrassed by what someone in their family did, you’re saying that someone is openly discussing something someone did that was wrong. You should be free to discuss deeds and misdeeds.
I guess it’s fun to gripe at those who say something should not have been done which we’ve all done plenty of. But really there is no reason to say we have to shut our mouths because somebody else is breaking the law. On the sunny side, you are free to gripe at us too! What fun!
Yes we can pity this this woman. We should pity he (I certainly do)r — if at all for having enslaved herself to drugs and I have seen plenty of people who did it no matter how many times they heard that drugs can enslave you they choose to do it thinking that they’re going to win the lottery and be the one that it doesn’t hurt. It would be a lot better for a lot more people if they were reminded how often drugs lead to slavery and death. This also implies strongly that at some level, the death penalty should apply to drug dealers, just as it should apply to others involved in slave trade, like Jeffrey Epstein and his friend.
(I might possibly lose a few relatives or a few might find other sources of income.)
She needs help, bashing her does not help. She can be a very loving, caring and vulnerable person. Other things are controlling her. Pray for her and those that love her!

Game cameras?
It gets harder and harder to commit and get away with crimes
It’s almost enough to make one give up on crime altogether.
If I were the husband and had that many guns I would buy a safe and hide key.
If I were the judge, I’d grant her a divorce, order the return of guns and/or money to the (ex)husband, get her into a recovery program and place her onto the path to a better life.
I looked up the 2011 story. She needs a new start in life, and that’s what she is attempting to do here. She just doesn’t know which way to turn for help.
She needs help because she sold the guns Drug money not divorce I hate it for the kids but they delt with her crap for years she’s been gone for months living here there anywhere with anyone lock her up
Meth is a hell of a drug.
