Santa Rosa Deputy Arrested On Child Porn Charges

December 18, 2018

A Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for child pornography.

Sgt. Jeffery Perkins was charged with aggravated assault, reckless display of a firearm and eight counts of possession of child pornography.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement began an investigation based upon a citizen’s complaint was received December 12. On December 14, Perkins was involved in “an incident” that involved domestic violence, according to Chris Williams, assistant agent in charge of the FDLE Pensacola Field Office.  He declined to discuss the specifics of that incident during a Tuesday morning news conference.

Williams said the FDLE obtained a search warrant Perkins’ cell phone the evening of December 14 and discovered child pornography.

“We will prosecute this case to the fullest extent possible under the law,” State Attorney Bill Eddins said. He said a special prosecutor that specializes in child pornography cases will be assigned.

“Every once in a while you have somebody who doesn’t need to wear the badge, but we try to find them as quick as possible and get rid of them,” Sheriff Bob Johnson said. He said Perkins has been terminated. He had worked with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office since 2010.

Williams and Eddins said an active investigation is continuing.

Perkins’ booking mugshot was not available under a Florida statute that restricts the release of law enforcement officer mugshots. The photo was taken from a March promotion ceremony.

    @Must be the Christmas spirit

    No need for all that. Just put him in the general population and anounce to his fellow convicts exactly what he is in prison for. Justice will take care of itself.

    Normally I read the comments and there are 30 comments calling for everything from castration to hanging in a case like this. I guess the Christmas Spirit has everyone minding their P’s & Q’s for a change.

    Prayers for the family and children.

    He’s innocent til proven oh never mind. But don’t lump all law enforcement together.Most are good people as well as public servants.That’s fake and boring news.Bad apples are in all walks of life. Also Brad no mugshot. It’s not a cover up,it’s the law.

    Booking mugshot wasn’t available but those poor children’s pictures sure was. That’s very sad.

    Well he needs to lose his firearms rights too and be fully prosecuted. And why isnt his picture posted? If it was a civilian his picture would be blasted.

    And people actually doubt the fact that CCW holders have a lower crime rate than LEO’s…
