Tate High Drama Celebrates Successful Year With Final Curtain Call For Seniors

The Tate High School Theatre program recently celebrated a successful year with a final curtain call for seniors.
This year, the program inducted 29 new Thespians into the troupe — the largest induction class in program history. The highest number of students ever involved in the club prior to this year was twenty-seven, meaning that this season the program more than doubled in size.
The final curtain call provided an opportunity to celebrate seniors as they took the Tate stage one final time, while recognizing several outstanding students with Legacy Awards for their leadership, service, and commitment to the performing arts.
Legacy Award Recipients were:
- Dorothy Lister “En Pointe” Award: Izzy Killebrew and Micah Frazier
- Neil Cobb “In The Wings” Award: Drew Crutchfield
- Ricky Still “Rising Star” Award: Gabriella Hardy

Rotary Academic All-Stars Named From Northview, ECHS, Escambia Academy, Atmore Christian

The Atmore Rotary Club has named 175 area high school students as Academic All-Stars during their 41st annual program on Tuesday night.
Over $30,000 in scholarships was awarded to high school seniors based on the number of years they have been an Academic All-Star.
The program recognized outstanding students from Northview High School, Escambia Academy, Escambia County High School, and Atmore Christian School.
In addition, the Rotary Club presented Merit Scholarships to two seniors:
Little John Memorial Scholarship ($2,000): Luke Chavers, Northview High School
William and Mary Grissett Memorial Scholarship ($2,000): Tyler Carach, Northview High School

Escambia County Inspirational Student Heroes Honored
May 10, 2026
Cox Communications and the Escambia County Council of PTAs/PTSAs (ECCPTA) came together to recognize 52 remarkable students during the annual Cox Inspirational Student Hero Awards and ECCPTA Students of the Year Awards.
The students were honored for demonstrating strength, resilience, and perseverance while overcoming significant personal hardships. From navigating medical challenges and family loss to persevering through difficult personal circumstances, each student has remained committed to personal growth while inspiring classmates, educators, and school communities.
“Cox is honored to shine a spotlight on these extraordinary students whose courage and determination set an example for all of us,” said David Deliman, vice president of Cox’s Gulf Coast market. “Despite the obstacles they’ve faced, these young leaders continue to move forward with optimism and empathy. Their stories remind us of the power of resilience and community support.”

Students were selected by a committee of school leaders across Escambia County for their ability to persevere through adversity while showing measurable improvement and positively influencing those around them.
“The Escambia County Council on PTAs and PTSAs is proud to celebrate these 52 outstanding students from throughout our county,” said Melanie Gambill, president of the ECCPTA/PTSA. “Their determination, growth, and commitment to success reflect tremendous character. They are truly inspiring, and it is an honor to recognize their achievements.”
During the ceremony, each honoree was presented with a personalized engraved medallion and certificates of honor from United States Senators Ashley Moody, Rick Scott, United States Representative Jimmy Patronis, Florida State Senator Don Gaetz, and Florida State Representatives Alex Andrade and Michelle Salzman. The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation congratulating all the honorees.

Barrineau Park Historical Society Awards Five Scholarships

The Barrineau Park Historical Society recently presented five scholarships.
Recipients were:
Carter Hayden was the recipient of a $1,000 Barrineau Park Historical Society scholarship. He will attend Mississippi State University.
Austin Jackson was the recipient of a $1,000 Barrineau Park Historical Society scholarship. He will attend the University of West Florida.
Ava Jacobi was awarded a $1,000 Lynda Minchew scholarship. She will attend the University of West Florida.
Sa Dayveon “Davy” Bradley was alwarded a $500 Mildred Haupert scholarship. He will attend Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
Ayden Crabtree was awarded the $500 Louis Crabtree, Jr. scholarship. He will attend the University of West Florida.

Ernest Ward Middle Inducts New Honor Society Members

New members were inducted last Friday into the National Junior Honor Society during a ceremony at Ernest Ward Middle School.
The NJHS is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle school students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character.

Northview Musicians Take Part In Northwest Florida Honor Band Performance

Several Northview High School band members took part in the Northwest Florida Small School Honor Band on Saturday afternoon at Milton High School.
The Northwest Florida Small School Honor Band was founded by the Baker, Central and Jay band directors who conceptualized a new honor band experience for small schools, with an inaugural performance in April 2024. This year, Baker, Central, and Jay were joined by Northview in the honor band performance.

Tate Junior Honor Society Project Benefits Ronald McDonald House Families

A recent Tate High School National Junior Honor Society service project benefited dozens of families at the Ronald McDonald House Northwest Florida.
The honor society members held a supply drive, collecting donations to create 36 baby shower gift bags filled with essentials for families welcoming newborns during difficult times.
