Northview High School Class Of 2021 Graduates (With Complete Graduate List)

The the Northview High School Class of 2021 graduated Monday afternoon at the Pensacola Bay Center
Five seniors in the class had a GPA over 4.0, and another 25 had a GPA of 4.0 or greater.
“There are going to be obstacles … but no matter what you have to keep pushing forward,” Valedictorian Amber Gilman told the Northview Class of 2021. “This world is not easy, but these past four years have built is for it.”
“I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me,” Gilman said, quoting Philippians 4:13. “No matter what you encounter throughout life, turn to God and He will give you strength. Without Him, no wall is too high, no valley is too low, and all things are possible.

“Hold on a little tighter, smile a little bigger, cry a little harder, laugh a little louder, forgive a little quicker, love a whole lot deeper,” said Libby Pugh, salutatorian and class president, who also closed her speech quoting Philippians 4:13. “I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.”

Tate High Class Of 2021 Graduates (With Complete Graduate List)

The nearly 500 members of the Tate High School Class of 2021 graduated Monday at the Pensacola Bay Center.
Valedictorian Katelyn Loudon achieved the highest GPA in the school’s history with a final GPA of 5.725, and co-salutatorians Maggie Brown and Michael Dixon tied to the exact decimal GPA of 5.55. The top 20 graduates all had a GPA over 5.0, and 27% of the class graduated with summa cum laude honors with a GPA greater than 4.0.
“God has given a joy that nothing can take away,” Valedictorian Katelyn Loudon said. “I verily believe that if you take ahold of the joy of the Lord and hold it your heart that life my get difficult, but you can find strength and encouragement in Him.”
“I am so excited to see what the future holds for each of you and the accomplished things that you will do,” Loudon told her fellow classmates. “Wherever life takes you, I pray you will be successful, and I will be cheering you on in whatever awaits in the future. You are all phenomenal, and I am so incredibly proud to call you my class. Go on and do great things, and if you every need any encouragement, remember there are people that care about you and wish you the best in the world. I bless you all in Jesus name. Good luck.”

Co-salutatorian Michael Dixon reflected on the struggles of the Class of 2021.
“We battled, we’ve struggled, we have triumphed, and we’ve earned the celebration that we have today. This is our day, and we all deserve this celebration, this day to rejoice in the product of our hard work,” Dixon said.
“Whatever you choose to do in your post-high school life, know that every lesson learned and every challenge overcome has prepared us for the new battles that we face as we go forward,” said Co-salutatorian Maggie Brown. “It our job to persevere through these obstacles so that we can each have our own little happily ever after.”
A moment of silence was held for class member Sean Banks, who passed away in a wreck at age 15 during his sophomore year.

Walnut Hill Baptist Church VBS
Walnut Hill Baptist Church will hold a “Rocky Railway” Vacation Bible School June 6-11 from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m.for ages pre-K through fifth grade. Family Night will be Friday night.
Atmore First Assembly of God VBS
Atmore First Assembly of God Church will hold a “Rocky Railway” Vacation Bible School June 7-11 from 8:00 until 11:30 a.m. for ages three through sixth grade.
Southern Harbor Mennonite VBS
Southern Harbor Mennonite Church Vacation Bible School will be June 9-18 from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. for children ages five years to ninth grade, 6211 West Highway 4.

They are both the younger siblings of former Tate valedictorians (Samantha Brown, Class of 2017, and John Dixon, Class of 2019) Their GPAs are greater than their siblings’ past achievements, but missed the mark to get the valedictory award among this competitive class.
This year’s Top 10 Percent, in a class of 479 students (The Top 48), were head to head in the GPA battle. The anchor, Ethan Middleton, received his gold tassel with a final GPA of 4.6652. The Top 20 graduates’ GPAs all surpassed an outstanding 5.0. Tate’s Class of 2021 will graduate with 130 students (top 27%) achieving summa cum laude honors with a GPA greater than 4.0.
Valedictorian: Katelyn Loudon (Final GPA: 5.725)
Katelyn is a four-year member of Tate’s Biomedical Science Academy, is an AP Scholar with distinction, and is the Escambia County Council PTA Student of the Year. She has completed her certifications for basic life support, patient care Technician, and certified medical administrative assistant.

In the fall, Katelyn plans to attend the University of West Florida. She has been awarded the Academic Excellence Merit Scholarship valued at $20,000, is a Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholar, and received scholarships from Boardwalk Pipelines, the Elks’ National Foundation, and the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. Katelyn plans to major in nursing and pursue a career as an emergency room nurse practitioner or physician associate.
Salutatorian: Maggie Brown (Final GPA: 5.55)
In 2018, Maggie was a quarterfinalist on Jeopardy’s Teen Tournament, was on the 2020 Senior Homecoming Court, was appointed to the 2021 Senior Hall of Fame, and volunteers as assistant coach of Ransom Middle School’s Academic Team and is a Science Saturday Robotics volunteer at the Institute of Human and Machine Cognition.
Clubs and Honor Societies: Academic Team (team captain); member of the Escambia County Academic All-Stars Team and is a state champion; Aggie Advanced Institute; Rho Kappa (president); Foreign Language Club (president); National Honor Society (vice president); Mu Alpha Theta (treasurer).
In the fall, Maggie plans to attend the University of West Florida. She has been accepted to the honors program, and plans to major in international studies and minor in art history. She has been awarded the Academic Excellence Merit Scholarship valued at $20,000, in addition to receiving a grant from Pensacola Interstate Fair, and being a Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholar.

Michael is a National Merit Finalist, a four-year member of the Showband of the South, and was this year’s head drum major.
Clubs and Honor Societies: Academic Team, Aggie Advanced Institute, National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho-Kappa, and Tri-M Musician’s Honor Society.
Band Honors/Awards: Assistant drum major his junior year, and head drum major his senior year. He was the principal French horn all four years; first chair horn in All-County band all four years; member of All-State bands in 2018 and 2021; received superior ratings at local and state solo and ensemble competitions on both French horn and piano. Recipient of the Escambia County Mira Award for music.
In the fall, Michael plans to attend the University of Florida to double major in music composition and psychology. He has been accepted into UF’s Honors Program, and has received the Benacquisto Scholarship (full ride) in addition to the University of Florida Presidential Scholarship, Band Scholarship, and Friends of Music Scholarship. He also was awarded the Better Business Bureau’s Student Ethics Scholarship and the Tate Showband Bill Slayton Scholarship.

Northview High Names 2021 Valedictorian, Salutatorian
June 1, 2021
Northview High School has named their valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2021.
The valedictorian is Amber Gilman, and the salutatorian is Libby Pugh.
The Northview High School Class of 2021 will graduate on Monday, June 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pensacola Bay Center. The event has no capacity limit and tickets are not needed.
Dedria’s Gift Presents Scholarships To Two Escambia Academy Students

Dedria’s Gift presented scholarships to two Escambia Academy students recently.
The scholarship recipients are Austin Washington and Lillian Bonner. Dedria’s Gift honors the memory of Dedria Robinson, who was killed in a 2005 automobile accident at age 11.

Rotary Academic All-Stars Named From Northview, ECHS, Escambia Academy, Atmore Christian

The Atmore Rotary Club has named 160 area high school students as Academic All-Stars.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the in-person ceremony could not be held this year, and students were mailed a recognition packet.
The Academic All-Star program is open to students who attend Northview High School, Atmore Christian School, Escambia County High School or Escambia Academy. To be named an Academic All-Star, a student must have maintained at least a B average in every subject for each grading period of the school year.
The Rotary Club is presenting over $25,000 in scholarships this year to 37 Seniors. Each four-year Senior Academic All Star will receive a scholarship for $1,000. The seniors who have been an Academic All Star for three years will receive $700, two year seniors will receive $600, and one-year seniors will receive $500. The program excludes Northview students that are full-time dual enrolled.

Flomaton Elementary Dedicates ‘Jaden James Friendship Bench’ In Memory Of Student Killed Near Walnut Hill

On Monday, Flomaton Elementary School dedicated a bench in memory of a student killed in a car crash last year near Walnut Hill.
“The Jaden James Friendship Bench” honors the six grader killed in the crash October 3, 2020, on Highway 97 one mile south of Tungoil Road.
“Jaden was a friend to everyone he met and leaves a legacy for us to uphold,” the school said about Jaden James in a social media post. “The bench, which was built and donated anonymously, will be used for times when students (and adults) need to talk to each other and remember the value and importance of friendship.”
Jaden’s father Jermaine James and sister Jermiah attended the bench dedication.
