Ransom Academic Team Takes Second In Beulah Academy Tournament

The Ransom Middle School Academic Team competed at the Beulah Academy of Science Snowball last Saturday.
In a field of eight teams from four schools, the Ransom C team – Sydney, Megan, Madelyn, and Adelynn – made the playoffs, and the Ransom A team – Calleigh, Cooper, Levi, Zackary and Cutter Rhodes won the semifinal over King Middle, but fell late in a tight championship final to defending champions Freeport and missed qualifying for Nationals.
Rhodes too overall individual first place.

Host Beulah Academy of Science had two teams that made the playoff bracket. Forrest Scott of BAS placed fourth out of 38 players.

Northview High Construction Academy Students Build Bat Houses For Town Of Century
February 3, 2026
Students in the Northview High School Building Construction Academy recently constructed 30 bat boxes for the Town of Century. The new structures are designed to provide a safe habitat for local bats, which have been causing issues and risking damage to municipal equipment.

EREC Crew Members Continue To Help Restore Power In North Mississippi
February 1, 2026
The crews from the Escambia River Electric Cooperative are continuing to work in North Mississippi to help restore power after an ice storm over a week ago.
EREC is among the cooperatives providing mutual aid to other electric cooperatives in the area. Crews have been working in temperatures in the teens and subzero wind chills.

Tate High FFA’s Maegan Coleman Places First In District Public Speaking

Tate High School FFA member Maegan Coleman placed first at the District Prepared Public Speaking contest.
She will advance to the state finals at the Florida FFA Convention and Expo in Orlando in June.

Strikes, Spares, and Smiles: Westgate Students Go Bowling

Escambia Westgate School students kicked off the new year by participating in the lifetime sport of bowling recently thanks for the support of DeLuna Lanes and the dedicated effort of the Westgate staff and faculty,
The entire school worked together to ensure that students of all grade levels and abilities had the opportunity to participate. Wall-to-wall smiles and happiness filled the bowling alley as the community came together to support the outing.
The students rolled the bowling balls and knock down pins, securing spares and strikes with no gutter balls in sight. Students laughed and learned in this authentic, real-life environment, gaining confidence with every frame played.

Northview NJROTC Air Rifle Earns Bronze At Area Championship
January 29, 2026
The Northview High School NJROTC Air Rifle Team earned a bronze medal finish in the Area 10 Air Rifle Championship.
The team finished third out of 25 schools, and Nicholas Kahalley finished fifth out of 100 shooters in the overall championship.
Northview NJROTC Air Rifle Team members are Damon McDuffie, Will Nowlin, Nicholas Kahalley, and Xyia Martin.
The competition was held at the Ware County High Shooting Complex in Waycross, Georgia.

Lipscomb Elementary Teachers Take Pies To The Face To Celebrate Student Success

Lipscomb Elementary School students hit their WIGS — Wildly Important Goals, — with increased scores and celebrated with pies in the face of their teachers.
“Our teachers were awesome sports, and our students had an absolute blast earning this reward. Way to go, team! We are so proud of all the hard work paying off,” the school posted.

The Beulah Middle School FFA chapter placed in several competitions at the recent district competition.

Bratt Elementary School Holds Math And Reading Night (With Gallery)
January 24, 2026
Bratt Elementary School recently held a “Team Up For Success” Family Night with hands-on reading and math activities for families.
Parents also received a copy of the most recent assessment scores, and a take-home learning packet.
Bratt student leaders led the activity stations and taught their friends how to play the games. Other student leaders welcomed guests, directed families through the building, and served refreshments.
