Early voting begins today in Escambia County for the general election.
Early voting will continue through November 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at 10 area locations:

One Day Only Free Adoption Event At Escambia Shelter Today

Escambia County Animal Welfare and Anderson Subaru have teamed up for the “Subaru Loves Pets” event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare at 200 West Fairfield Drive.
The event will feature free pet adoptions all day long, food trucks, a bounce house, pet-friendly vendors, and more. Anderson Subaru will provide treat bags for adopters who take a pet home at the event.
Anyone interested in adopting will have the chance to connect with Animal Welfare staff during the event to be matched with the perfect pet. A full list of adoptable pets at the Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center can be viewed at 24petconnect.com. A $15 licensing fee will apply at the time of adoption for Escambia County residents.
Pictured above are Perri, a 9-month-old medium-sized spayed female cat, and Carrigan, a 3-year-old large spayed dog. Both were available for adoption as of closing time Friday at the Escambia animal shelter.

ReImagine Cantonment Returns Saturday At New Location With Free Food, Clothing And More

The annual ReImagine Cantonment outreach will return Saturday at a new location.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Florida Children’s Home at 1000 Chemstrand Road.
The faith-based event will include a 20,000 pound food giveaway, lunch, fishing lessons with free fishing rods, free tablets, baby diapers, HIV testing, clothing, free haircuts, free laundry detergent, free pillows and more. Absolutely everything is free. There will also be free children’s activities, including train rides, inflatables, face painting, games, popcorn, and a coloring contest with three participants winning a new bicycle.
ReImagine Cantonment is a project of Doers of the Word Ministry and is sponsored by numerous churches and other organizations, including NorthEscambia.com. Previously, it was held at Carver Park in Cantonment.

It’s ‘A Night of Creepy Crawlies’ Tonight At Roy Hyatt Environmental Center

The Roy Hyatt Environmental Center will be holding its annual “A Night of Creepy Crawlies” tonight from 5:30 until 8:00. Located at 1300 Tobias Road in Cantonment, Florida, this family-friendly event offers a chance to explore the world of insects and reptiles up close.
Visitors can meet creepy crawlers with the Sunset Wildlife Connection, observe birds of prey with the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida, and get hands-on with the center’s resident reptiles. The event also features educational opportunities, such as examining microscopic critters and discovering aquatic creatures in the “Beach House.”
Guests can enjoy movies in the planetarium (with a suggested $2 donation), go on a spider hunt led by naturalists, and explore food trucks on site. Admission for the event is free, with donations welcome.
